Eurovision to feature Australia

Updated: Julia Zemiro will show the rest of Europe how Australia has been enjoying the contest for 30 years.

2013-05-15_0121Their Euro-hosts have given us a shout-out before but this year the Eurovision Song Contest will give Australia a more prominent acknowledgment.

In the first Semi Final, SBS’s very own Julia Zemiro appears in an insert to show the rest of Europe how Australia has been enjoying the contest for 30 years.

The first Semi takes place today at Malmö Arena, and will air at 8:30pm on Friday following the special The Heart of Eurovision. Do you have your parties organised yet?

Congrats to Julia who has finally made it onto the official Eurovision broadcast!

Please note no Spoilers (including Comments) will be approved prior to SBS broadcasts.

    1. Not finally. There have been other EV posts. But I take the view that SBS stories are relevant. Disclaimer gone from Monday.

Brekkie: I finally worked out you meant pyrotechnic shower!

  1. The Aussie connection to Eurovision doesn’t stop there. Many people might not be aware that in the 1974 contest – won by ABBA – Olivia Newton-John performed Long Live Love as England’s entry.

  2. *sigh* I want Julia’s job so badly!!!
Very cool that Australia will be getting some love. European friends of mine are always a little bemused at what a Eurovision tragic I am, so I’m glad the recognition of the Aussie cult following will show them it’s not just me. 🙂

I shall be partying all by myself (which I guess makes me a Eurovision tragic in more ways than one).

  3. Can’t wait. As much as I loved Terry Wogan, I reckon Sam and Julia are probably better for an Aussie audience. I think UK get Graham Norton these days.

My Eurovision party is being organised as we speak. It shall be epic. I need some ideas for drinking games though…
