FOX Sports waves the green and gold

FOX Sports has announced its schedule for key sporting events this winter for the Wallabies, Socceroos and cricket.

Its OnFOX Sports has announced its schedule for key sporting events this winter for the Wallabies, Socceroos and cricket.

Your country needs you more than ever before. That is the message from three of our biggest stars – Wallaby James Horwill, Socceroo Tim Cahill, and Aussie cricketer Shane Watson – as FOX Sports declares ‘It’s On for Green & Gold’ this winter.

From June, Australia’s national sporting teams face their moment of truth in a winter that will thrill, excite, and unite the nation. FOX Sports CEO, Patrick Delany, said now was the time for Australian sports fans to come together:

“There is nothing more powerful in sport than the image of our Australian teams standing shoulder-to-shoulder, ready for battle, singing our national anthem on the biggest stage,” said Delany.

“As a nation we are tribal with our teams, our codes, and even our states. Often its mate against mate, state against state, your team against my team. But when Australia plays – we are one tribe. Over the coming months we can succeed in all three sports, but we’ll need to dig deep in the great Aussie tradition,” he said.

“We are calling on all Aussies to pull on the green and gold and band together for our teams this winter. Whether you are lucky enough to be at the ground, in front of your Foxtel or at a pub or club, grab your mates and link up shoulder-to-shoulder and get behind Australia.”

“There’s never been a better time to be a sports fan in Australia. These next three months are going to provide us with defining moments and memories that will last a lifetime. It’s a time to celebrate sport,” he said.

It all begins when the touring British & Irish Lions, en route to our shores for the first time in 12 long years, take on the Barbarians in Hong Kong on June 1.

The Lions will play nine matches on Aussie soil, headlined by a three-Test series against the Wallabies. They will play additional tour matches against each of the Australian Super Rugby franchises, plus a combined New South Wales-Queensland Country team.

The nation’s most recognised and respected rugby commentary team will capture every moment of the tour, with Live uninterrupted and High Definition coverage spearheaded by former Wallabies including Tim Horan, Nathan Sharpe and Phil Kearns alongside the game’s premier play-by-play commentator, Greg Clark. FOX Sports will also provide access to the British Sky Sports commentary team for all Test matches via the red button.

On June 4 the nation’s attention will turn to football when the Socceroos kick off the first of their three remaining Asia Group FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against arch rival Japan in Tokyo.

Holger Osieck’s men will then return home for two more pivotal matches in June against Jordan and Iraq, where the Socceroos World Cup destiny will be realised.

FOX Sports will broadcast all three crucial 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers exclusively Live in High Definition with former Socceroos Mark Bosnich and Robbie Slater among the commentary team joining the voice of Australian football, Simon Hill, for every clash.

It’s also a make-or-break winter for our Aussie cricketers, who first tackle the ICC Champions Trophy before embarking on a five-Test Ashes campaign against the old enemy England.

Michael Clarke’s young Aussie squad will begin the quest to bring home the Urn on July 10 with the opening Test at Trent Bridge.

FOX Sports will deliver every tense moment from England Live and in High Definition for all five Ashes Tests, plus every match in the preceding ICC Champions Trophy and all eight limited-overs matches featuring the Aussies at the completion of The Ashes.

FOX Sports will be Australian television’s only destination for fans to watch Live coverage of every match featuring our national teams from June 1 right through to September 16, 2013.

  1. @glennc
It doesn’t include the Ashes in England as Nine and FS have the rights not Ten. I think you are getting mixed up as there is a Ashes Series in November real chance on Ten. The CA TV rights deal is only for the summer of cricket which might include 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup

  2. @DaveM The Eng v Aus matches will be telecast on Fox and 9 (unless 10 win the rights and this series is part of it too).
The Champions Trophy has been treated shabbily by 9 in the past. I imagine they’ll show what they’re obliged too under the Anti Siphoning rules but precious little else!

  3. Question…Will The Ashes in England be shown on FTA like they were shown on SBS last time? Hope so! Not everyone has pay TV…Not so worried about the Champions Trophy…

  4. In terms of FTA, The Ashes will be on Nine, British and Irish LIons tour on TEN and Socceroos World Cup qualifiers on SBS on a delay of 30 minutes.
Not bad. I am getting a bit sick and tired of FOX Sports bragging about that they have every match of everything and that FOX Sports is the only place to see it. I say they are slightly fibbing.
