In his new role, he will assume responsibility for the FOX Sports News channel and oversee management of the channel.

FOX Sports CEO, Patrick Delany, said: “Gary has proven himself as one of the most talented and highly-successful Executive Producers in the company and takes on this new role with a strong track record of innovating and finding fresh ways to entertain sports fans.

“We have always been excited by the potential of the FOX Sports News channel and I am confident that Gary will add renewed energy to our sports service.

“Following the successful resurrection of Fox Footy in 2012 and the complete reinvention of FOX Sports this year, it was time to look at FOX Sports News with a set of fresh eyes.”

Burchett has been with FOX Sports for eight years, serving as an Executive Producer since October 2009.

“It’s a rare opportunity to be given the challenge of reshaping a sports news service but it’s one that I’m really invigorated by. There are many sources of sports news available to fans but FOX Sports News is quite unique having access to all the inside knowledge and resources of Australians biggest and best sports broadcaster – FOX Sports,” he said.

“The ambition is to have FOX Sports News renowned as the authoritative leader in sports news entertainment – the first place Australians come to for sports news and the first place to turn for opinion.

“Australians have an insatiable appetite for sports news and it is our responsibility to deliver content that is stimulating, memorable and encourages people to want to share our stories.”

He begins in the role from today.
