So Julia Gillard is a fan of Game of Thrones (quick, let the marketing team know)?
Yesterday the PM told Guardian Australia. “I was given the DVDs over the summer period when I did get a little bit of time to watch so I watched them one after the other.
“I don’t get many lazy afternoons but I managed to have a few and now I am a bit of an addict. I anxiously await the new episode each Monday night. I like it because I think the intrigue between the contending families is enough to sustain the storyline.
“I am not usually a consumer of things with fantasy elements in it but I very much enjoy it.”
Maybe it’s all the power games and overthrows that appeals to her. Or maybe it has a certain charm in Altona.
Asked if she perhaps be referred to as “khaleesi” in her own office?, she said: “Well, I don’t have any pet dragons – maybe they would come in handy from time to time– nobody has given me any dragon eggs and since she had to walk into fire in order to hatch them I am not sure I particularly want that bit of it.”
GoT fan Jordan Bader tweeted: “Julia Gillard confirms she is addicted to Game of Thrones. ONE OF US! ONE OF US!”
To which Julia Gillard replied in the fictional Dothraki language: “Not addicted – me allayafa anna!” (“it pleases me”).
Linguist David J. Peterson, who created the Dothraki language for the show, said: “(I’m) truly impressed!”
“And correctly at that!”
Maybe she can use a little Dothraki with the US Ambassador next time they meet?

I’d rather have Joffrey Baratheon in charge of Australia than what we currently have.
