That is Seven Network and Nine Network who do that but I haven’t seen Network Ten start late unless if its of course a live sporting event

  2. @William- Tonight Seven’s EPG Border Sec to start 8:00 – started 8:05
EPG Mrs Brown to start 8:30 – started 8:38.
    TEN’s EPG L&OSVU to start 8:33 – started 8:33.
So much for going by the EPG, and setting PVRs.

  3. @William -“People should go by the EPG not the promos”. You mean the EPG that currently says that all 7 & 9 programs will start exactly on time tonight? i.e., 8:30, 9:30 etc.?
At least TEN and ABC1 have +2 mins here and there.
Programs are supposed to start at the advertised time, not give or take 10 mins or more.

  4. The fact that TV shows nowadays frustratingly chop and change at the last minute, run overtime, or aren’t punctual, is making me want to give up TV all together and just have a quiet night in. Get back to basics. Have a nice cuppa with a book; watch some DVDs instead – all at your own leisure. What did humans do back then without TV?

  5. @ David Knox

Congratulations David “Mr. J ” seems to confirm that TV Tonight is read internationally, as I find it hard to believe Mr. J’s EPG comment refers to Australian EPG’s, and his comment about ignoring printed guides, isn’t it bad enough that the networks have virtually done this for years, and unfortunately ever since the EPG’s option (and selling point ) arrived, the virus ( network apathy ) affecting printed guides has nearly become terminal, and has now spread to EPG’s.

The networks seem to assume that every one is only watching ‘ Their Channels’ 24/7, with their eyes glued to the bottom of the TV screen for fleeting ticker messages, as it is absolutely ‘No Use’ taking notice of starting times during the endless misleading promo’s, but at least it has taken the heat off us ‘blokes’ for channel surfing, because we are now desperately trying to match overrun’s and staring times etc.( that’s our excuse anyway).

The networks seem to have confused “EP Guides” designed to enable viewers plan ahead, to one of ” EP Guesswork ” offering very short notice and or just reflecting ‘on the run’ actual starting and finishing times ( if we are that lucky most times)

    Unfortunately

  6. Dr Helmut Marko believes Dan Ricciardo is the better one in the Red Bull junior category and he is the Red Bull advisor. This is making Mark Webbers seat in jeopardy

  7. @William – “Since Mark is leaving this year and Dan moving up…”

You’ve got to stop stating internet rumours as fact.

  8. I only buy TV Week for the articles now rather than for the programme guide like in years gone by. But my machine is still not always correct. I remember a year ago when I had it programmed to tape a show and at the last minute they decided to put a double episode, only because I happened to be flicking channels I noticed it was still going after the recording had stopped so had to quickly start taping and missed about 5 or 10 mins

  9. @Craig
The only reason that F1 is shown on Ten for AEST and One the rest is due to the fact of Mark Webber and Daniel Ricciardo. Since Mark is leaving this year and Dan moving up to Red Bull. It will still be shown on Ten and One. MotoGP is on One because Stoner left

  10. The official EPG is usually close to actual time but it’s been hit and miss on 7 and 9 over the past week or so. Incorrect times but also some “to be advised” when shows are actually starting.

  11. The F1 last year was always late, some weeks a few minutes but usually around 10, leaving them less than 20 minutes to give viewers the latest F1 news and usually an interview with Webber and some other drivers.

This is another reason the F1 should be on ONE, they should have a full hour (at least) before the race to show qlf highlights and the news and interviews. Not rush through them to fill in the time until the 10pm starts most weekend when they are on the Europe leg of the championship. Plus the fact on ONE we get a much better picture in full HD.

    Sorry for the F1 rant.

  12. yeah, there does seem to be more shows starting late recently , with different start time across, tv ads, epgs and printed guides. and more late changes to programming.

  13. so so much whinging, i think people need to grow up and learn to ignore printed guides and promos and check the EPG for the correct times if starting times are that important to you. If the EPG is wrong, then that is a problem, but i find the EPG usually quit accurate.

  14. What’s very sad is that in prime time viewing there is nothing but reality programs on all the fta networks – proving that the networks are doing their utmost best to keep their costs down …. by showing you all the worst that fta has to offer …..Death to Reality television!

  15. @JB
Formula One started at 9.38pm AEST. I usually go by the EPG not the printed ones or promotions. F1 is shown on Ten for eastern states everywhere else is One while MotoGP is exclusive to One

  16. @William completely disagree. Even after the EPG has been updated, networks still continue to run ads saying 8.30. That is a blatant lie, false advertising, and shouldn’t be allowed to happen. As long as it continues to happen the EPG is meaningless because networks advertise the original time anyway.
In the US it is a big deal if a show is 1 minute late, and ratings will often declare that the show started at 9.01. Here it sadly is accepted that shows can be 20 minutes late for no reason

  17. I do not watch any of the programs concerned…but I would have to say…Sevens ticker across the screen might be fine is you are eye balling the show….not a lot of use if you are recording it I would think.

  18. Promos and TV guides all need to line up with the EPG … If there is such a thing as truth in advertising. And I don’t care if something starts at 840 as long as the epg picks up on it if recording and I have to say it is worth foxtel just for that as opposed to clumsy fta recorders. What is inexcusable is saying something is 840 then make it 855. Networks need to start being punished for breaches.
