Renewed: Criminal Minds, Parks and Recreation. Axed: Touch

Also axed: Whitney, Up All Night. But could 24 make a return?

2013-05-10_1213Criminal Minds is returning for a ninth season and remaining on CBS.

The one-hour procedural, produced by ABC Studios, was noticeably absent in late March when CBS renewed most of its primetime lineup.

Despite some contractual speculation Joe Mantegna, Thomas Gibson, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Shemar Moore, Matthew Gray Gubler, Kirsten Vangsness and A.J. Cook will all return, with Erica Messer as showrunner.

Comedy series Parks and Recreation has received a sixth season from NBC. But the fate of Community and new comedies The New Normal and Go On have yet to be revealed, while Up All Night, Guys With Kids, Whitney and 1600 Penn have been cancelled. Not all of those have aired in Australia yet.

Meanwhile FOX has cancelled Touch after two seasons (only 1 has aired here) but the good news is there are rumours of returning 24 as a limited series. Yes please!

  1. That’s great, love Criminal Minds, had read the other day it was still up in the air. Loved Touch, the season finale just aired in the US, hopefully we will get it soon. Lets hope it doesn’t get the White Collar or Blue Bloods treatment. Same with Scanda, it just aired the season finale over there too. Don’t know why these networks fast track some shows, but don’t bother with others. Loved 24, just read that on Twitter today too.

  2. Shame about Up All Night. Not surprising with Christina leaving earlier this year. Will miss it, but it did lose it spark with the cancellation of the Ava show.

  3. I’m a big 24 fan (have most seasons on DVD). But I can’t see it coming back. Jack did his big farewell at the end of season eight.

Can’t see it coming back in any form (movie or tv series).

  4. Great to hear Criminal Minds is back for another season! Up All Night (Seven) and 1600 Penn (Comedy) were cute shows that filled in time but were far from being great so no big lose being cancelled. I hope The New Normal (TEN) gets renewed and returns to Aussie screens soon!
