19 Comments:

  1. I stumbled on this show on Sunday’s catch up and now I’m hooked. I think there’s value in keeping the Sunday catch up for a few more weeks. They’d build their weekday audience further with it.

  2. timmydownawell

Seven must be very happy with HR’s results this week. I wish they could squeeze in a Friday show… seems like such an agonising wait from Thursday til Monday for the house reveal!

  3. House Rules is climbing. I am happy about this because this is awesome. The show beats The Block in comparison by doing more renovation in one show than the Block shows in a week.

  4. @ All the HR fans: I agree the Reno focus and reveal, plus the characters are more interesting. I only watch Mon & Tues, but I could cope with the other two eps, if I wanted to watch that much. Whereas the Block is a reveal show only!

  5. I am glad seven stuck with House Rules as I am enjoying it. I also like The Block but not quite as much due to the challenge aspect. I find that part irrelevant-just get on with the reno!

  6. I have been watching HR on and off for last fortnight and I must say it has really grown on me. For comparisons sake, I have also watched the Block off and on and I think HR is more entertaining, nicer couples and at least it concentrates solely on the reno, there is none of those stupid challenges. I saw one on The Block last week where they had to ponce around in SUV’s then build a dunny up a tree???? WTH?? I also don’t care for the dynamic between the contestants on the Block, it’s awful.

  7. @Andy G and if it weren’t for Melbourne’s ridiculous love affair with Nine’s reality rubbish, then Seven would take the wins. Melbourne’s figures for The Block and The Voice are abnormally high compared to other cities.

Looks like House Rules will be sticking around. I’m actually enjoying it. And as i’ve said before it’s a better format than The Block.

  8. @Pete – The Big Bang Theory is the only funny comedy on TV that isn’t aimed at morons. Yes, its plot is non-existent, and the jokes are predictable, but what else is there to watch? Repeats of lame, jokeless ABC comedies? Mrs Brown’s Boys? Two & A Half Men?

  9. Re ratings for House Rules and The Block: Firstly they were not on at the same time (in QLD at least) and secondly HR was up against The Footy Show and who wants to watch The Footy Show! I think the ratings for HR were inflated because people switched over after The Block.

  10. There’s a segment on The Block where Scott and Shelley go around to the 5 pairs of contestants and talk to them about how things are going with their rooms. There’s no one there to talk to this series..as vacuous, uninteresting and humorless bunch as has ever been on this show. The guy in the penthouse never says anything..just stares blankly as his wife babbles away…her claim to fame being a laugh that sounds like a dolphin .I’m embarrassed to say I’ve been watching..not sure why..don’t care about any of them or particularly dislike any of them either. But really the die basically gets cast by the selection of contestants, and The Block has had some pretty engaging couples lately from Dan and Dani to Brad and Lara. This season that luck ran out.

  11. If you take Perth out of the figures, how much does Nine win by. Is it safe to assume all close wins to Seven (not the 35%-25% efforts) would be close Nine wins if not for Perth?

  12. Wow HR has increased this week Thurs on last week. And Thurs ep nearly highest for the week.
This show is potentially gaining a loyal following and word of mouth must be spreading.

  13. I am blown away by how The Big Bang Theory keeps getting huge numbers on Go. Aren;t people sick of the constant repeats yet? Whilst we still watch in droves, they will never bother with alternate new content.

Despite all the dire predictions, Seven would be happy with House Rules performance.

  14. House Rules 1m on a Thursday!?!? Gosh that show is doing well – I thought it would have been taken out the back and shot after its first week!
