Steve Forrest, best known as Lt. Dan “Hondo” Harrelson on the 1970s series S.W.A.T., has died, aged 87.
A Hollywood performer for more than 60 years, he was named New Star of the Year at the 1953 Golden Globes for the film So Big, opposite Jane Wyman.
He soon transitioned to TV roles in Playhouse 90, Lux Video Theater, and Alfred Hitchcock Presents before Western roles in Gunsmoke, Bonanza, and The Virginian.
He also appeared in British crime drama The Baron, the first color series on British TV.
For Aaron Spelling, Forrest starred on the action show S.W.A.T. for two seasons.
Later TV roles included Dallas, Malibu, and Gunsmoke: Return to Dodge.

@JulieS- Thanks for that. Was curious how the two looked so alike. Two of my favourites.
No doubt we’ll continue to see him in “The Baron” which Nine/WIN seem to have perpetual rerun rights to, albeit at 2am.
His brother was another famous Hollywood actor – Dana Andrews. He also appeared in a couple episodes of “Mission: Impossible”
Quintessential tough guy – rugged and direct on screen. I remember him best from Dallas.
