  1. Really surprised Skywire on Discovery Channel didn’t rate in the top 20 … it got bumper ratings in the US. Guess it not being in primetime here had an influence.

  2. @David,

I know you love these questions … what numbers does #qanda get on ABC 24? I am curious because that is the only live telecast option for those of us not on the eastern seaboard. (Based on the digi-multi channel data in this post, it’s obviously less than 200k).

    Thanks

  3. @toomuchtv, I thought it was just me who couldn’t get into MCA this year. I watch is off-and-on but I am surprised at how little engaged I am by it. I hate the themed challenges format they are doing this year, it is just not working. The high water mark for this show was Season Two (2010). That season was a blinder, with stand out contestants like Marion, Adam, Callum and Aaron. The less said about the horrendous Season Three (2011), the better. I know nearly all reality shows have to evolve their forma to keep viewers engaged, but I think viewer fatigue has set in with MCA. It may well need to be rested.

  4. Secret Squirrel

@bettestreep2008 – are you going to say this every single day? We get it – you love MC but bemoan the fact that other people prefer Seven’s and Nine’s offerings. Bored now.

  5. Congrats on House Rules. An an engaging show that focuses on the Renovations and design features and style! Deserved to be the top “Reno” show!

  6. MCA us a huge disappoint this year! I have previously been a huge fan but the structure this year is driving me crazy and I suspect driving viewers away! It is reminiscent of the 2011 season where they played with challenges and moved away from the original formatting of the show. Last year they went back to the original and the show was great! To me they have taken away everything that was great about the show, what is left are boring contestants with minimal skill, boring challenges with a structure the changes each week so you never know what sort of episode you are going to be watching. The production of MCA this year really need to explain the choices they have made this year!

  7. bettestreep2008

House Rules has certainly proven to be a hit – and although it is far superior, MCA has been a huge disappointment.

I guess Ten thought two renovation shows competing alongside each other would have given MCA an advantage.

Sadly it hasn’t and Ten should seriously consider giving it a rest next year.

Or at the very least not structure it’s entire schedule around it.

It is not longer the ratings juggernaut it once was.

    Shame really.

  8. Go House Rules. I guess people want to watch renovations in a renovation show after all. I’m loving House Rules. Thought it was dead on arrival, but it’s grown into a hit

  9. So glad that House Rules did so well, it really is getting much better, in my opinion far superior to The Block, and wont watch The Block again, thanks channel 7 for having some good programmes to suit everyone’s taste channel 7 has come of age over the past few years, keep up the good work.

  10. House Rules smashes The Block. Who would have thought back in week 1 when it was around 700,00k?!

Is it too early to call the surprise hit of the year?
