Airdate: Spartacus: War of the Damned

The fourth and final chapter of Spartacus will finally hit Australian screens next month on Showcase.

2013-06-19_2146It’s been more than a year since we’ve seen a new series but the fourth instalment of Spartacus will finally hit Australian screens next month, but will premiere on Showcase.

Spartacus: War of the Damned is also the final chapter in the series and features Aussies Liam McIntyre, Dustin Clare and Todd Lasance.

It’s not clear if the show will air later on GO! where the franchise has premiered before.

Following the death of Gaius Claudius Glaber, this new instalment in the Spartacus saga sees the rebel army swell to thousands of freed slaves. This formidable force, led by Spartacus (Liam McIntyre), alongside his generals Crixus (Manu Bennett), Gannicus (Dustin Clare) and Agron (Dan Feuerriegel) is determined to wage war on Rome. Meanwhile, the Roman Senate turns to Marcus Crassus (Simon Merrells), a wealthy, strategic politician, for aid. With a young Julius Caesar (Todd Lasance) as an ally, Crassus is hell bent on crushing the rebellion, starting with its iconic leader.

Also joining the cast is Cynthia Addai-Robinson as Naevia, the fierce former body slave; Ellen Hollman as Saxa, the physically striking warrior rescued from a Germanic slave ship; Pana Hema-Taylor as Nasir, a young Syrian captive freed by Spartacus; Christian Antidormi as Tiberius, the eldest son of Marcus Crassus; Gwendoline Taylor as Sibyl, A shy, sweet and innocent young slave and Jenna Lind as Kore, a beautiful house worker for the Crassus family.

As the final chapter in the legendary Spartacus journey comes to a head, viewers will be able to catch the conclusion of one of television’s most exciting, well told, and visually appealing programs only on Foxtel’s showcase.

Thursday July 11 at 9.30pm on Showcase.

  1. Go! bought the exclusive rights to Spartacus and showed it after 11pm. Mostly to stop cable premiering it.

At the moment Go! is full of repeats of TBBT, The Mentalist and POI and movies, they don’t seem to be keen on buying new content. With its rating they could only show Spartacus late at night so it’s probably not worth them showing it.

  2. Same.

Wish all the US premium cable shows just went to Foxtel – the FTA networks haven’t got a clue what to do with them ….

We need a use it or lose it policy
