According to a title on TEN News last night, Mark Latham is a former Australian Prime Minister.
Latham was discussing the latest Labor leadership debacle on Q & A in a clip re-broadcast on TEN.
A source told TV Tonight they called TEN to notify them of the error only to be told, “Yes we are aware of it, but (we’re) in the middle of a bulletin.”
Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay…..

Yes huge ego boost for a few minutes
Perhaps they were too busy preparing the episode of The Simpsons for its 47534th repeat. I don’t bother with The Project anymore because of this wedge between news and current affairs, and from what I’ve heard The Project has declined badly since Bart and co made their unwelcome return. When all you have to offer during the news hour are tired old repeats of a cartoon which was a nine day wonder more than 20 years ago it’s time to throw in the towel.
They didn’t change leaders again without telling us? 😆
@Jason – you’re right, I should’ve properly done my own checking. Perhaps auto-complete changed “Shadow” to “Prime”? Yes, that’s it.
If it said “PM” I could accept, maybe, just a typo and someone ‘really meant MP, but it says “Prime Minister”.
Latham provided a few laughs on Q&A. Runner up were the cutaways to Malcolm Turnbull’s face during some of the discussions.
It should have said Former 60 Minutes “Political Expert”
It could just be a typo – “former MP”
I think they’ve stop caring.
D’oh!
Ten News as unreliable as Ten’s scheduling and promotions. 😛
Memo to TEN News. There’s this useful thing called Wikipedia. Google Mark Latham and…surprise, look what’s top rank…good old Wikipedia. 20 seconds to check rather than guess or assume?
How do you expect to take ten seriously(pardon the pun!) when they make such a big blunder like this ……
And in other news Mark Latham’s ego just got an unnecessary boost
If Ten aren’t going to invest in quality news production staff, why bother screening news at all?
I remember Ten did the same thing to John Hewson shortly after he lost the Liberal leadership in 1994.
Obviously they haven’t learnt in fact checking on the Opposition Leaders who did not become Prime Ministers.
