The Newsroom: trailer

Video: We now have our first full trailer for season two of The Newsroom.

We now have our first full trailer for season two of The Newsroom, which this season focusses on a through-line plot rather than individual news incidents each episode.

It returns July 14 in America and will be express from the US.

In December Foxtel promised the show would be on SoHo but by February backflipped and shifted it to the premium Showcase channel.

Very disappointing for those subscribers who renewed on the basis of Foxtel’s earlier commitment. Aggrieved viewers would surely be entitled to ask for compensation.

  1. I agree this is a great programme but i am not paying for Showcase to watch it…….if i want to watch a movie i watch on demand!

I also wish they would have a channel that advertises new seasons of programmes, i only knew that series 3 of Fringe was coming up because i did a title search!

  2. I completely agree with Xephyrise that showcase is a niche channel and as such should be offered as one instead of solely in a movie package.
@ nevothirty – completely agree! I missed the first episode of season two of Nikita and season 3 of Fringe as FOX8 only advertise its programs that air between 7:30pm-9:30pm Sunday-Friday. If it was up to me, every program would receive an ad every second ad break during similar programs (e.g. ads for Nikita and Fringe during Grimm and Revolution). However, with reference to Franklin & Bash, it doesn’t start for another week and FX stated last year that they were “playing catch up” so they would play seasons 1 and 2 back to back and then fast track season 3. Hopefully they still plan to fast track it but with Da Vinci and Transporter finished I can’t see any reason why not as there are timeslots available.

  3. You know what is really pissing me of about foxtel.
all there ads are for the same show. it was by luck that I came across season 3 of White Collar last night.

all they advertise for is animation. there are to many channels dedicated to drama it is hard to keep track of everything.

I’m still waiting for season 3 of Franklin and Bash.

and like everyone who watched and loved the Newsroom I to am pissed off that they have moved it to showcase. Foxtels movie channels are a joke and not worth paying for.

  4. Considering that Newsroom was the centrepiece of the advertising last year in the re-brand from W to Soho, it does tend to leave a bad taste in your mouth for them to pull a switcheroo on us… Maybe they could fix that by offering Newsroom S2 on some sort of delay (within a week of airing on Showcase might be reasonable)
Showcase is the most bizarre of all the channels for me, it is clearly a strongly performing drama/comedy tv series channel, and yet Foxtel sticks it on the Movie package…. I reckon that if Showcase was offered a stand-alone price (as Sci Fi is) it would secure a decent amount of extra subscriptions because the Movie package (for me and im sure for others) feels like an excess amongst the package options (Just have a look at any single Movie channel… They seems to have about 6-8 movies on constant repeat… and no real fresh content other than Premiere). I realise that without Showcase the Movie package is useless for some people, but it feels like those of us who pay extra for the “drama & entertainment” package ought to have access to all of the drama-based channels, not just the ones Foxtel thinks we should…
