Airdate: Cyndi Lauper: Still So Unusual

Girls just wanna have their own Reality show, right?

2013-07-16_2344The delectable Ms. Cyndi Lauper features in a new Reality series that looks inside her life,  Cyndi Lauper: Still So Unusual.

Pop music royalty, passionate philanthropist and super mum, Cyndi Lauper is definitely more than just a girl who wants to have fun. With a successful career that has spanned over three decades the icon is opening up her unavoidably chaotic, often comical and truly multi-faceted life to the cameras.

This 12-part series gives viewers an all-access pass into the personal and professional life of one of pop culture’s most beloved and influential icons as she juggles her many roles, including rock star, mother to her son Declyn, wife to actor David Thornton, Broadway composer, New York Times best-selling author, and philanthropist co-founding the “True Colors Fund”.

“I’ve always liked to work in TV and film,” says Lauper, who collaborated with veteran producer Mark Burnett, with whom she had signed a deal before appearing on his Celebrity Apprentice in 2010. “People think they know what reality TV is, but it’s still a new medium. It has that element of documentary, and I think that documenting your life and your process as an artist is part of your art.”

In addition to her stellar music career spanning back to 1970s, Lauper’s proven she is not only a talented music artist and performer but an accomplished musical theatre composer and lyricist. Lauper’s Broadway musical Kinky Boots won six 2013 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Original Score, Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical, Best Choreography, Best Orchestras, and Best Sound Design of a Musical.

Cyndi Lauper will arrive in Australia for a national tour to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the album that started her career, She’s So Unusual including world-wide number one hits Time After Time and Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, kicking off in August.

Sundays at 7.30pm from August 4, on Bio.

  1. “Delectable”, David? Are we talking physical appeal? I rather imagined she wasn’t your type.

She’s never done it for me I’m afraid.

Also, minor typo: Cindi / Cyndi
