  1. Not impressed by Nine starting the cricket on GEM at 7PM Friday, meaning WIN viewers missed out on A Current Affair. I hope we don’t have another situation like last year where WIN viewers didn’t see Bryce Courtney announcing on ACA he had a few months to live because WIN was showing Big Brother instead.

  2. Congratulations to Nine especially about The Ashes. It looks unfortunately the answer to the question posed in the EPG episode description as though the answer might be no. Although it’s not over until it’s over. So we’ll see.

Thank you to Eleven for Star Trek: DS9. I’m glad the percentage went up this week. Plus for the interesting ads.

  3. At the lunch break, the first thing the 2 blokes hosting this referred to was that folk should switch over and catch the last half an hour of their footy show and come back to the cricket later. It was as if they knew their ratings were good, a little too good.

Learnings from this is that you can do sports on the cheap if the host broadcaster has a good feed and decent commentary.

I would really like to know what this is costing them, its gotta be cheap and make big $$$

C’mon Mr D Knox, Pertinax and anyone else who knows about cost and profit in this area

  4. kimbeth: Origin figures are nearly three times that of the ashes. if anything, it is an argument to keep sports on the sd channels.

Yes, it would be nice if Origin was in HD, but it would decrease viewership of their channels, since the 3.6% that watched GEM that night would have gone elsewhere.

  5. There are stories going around that 9 may move the cricket to its main channel, with such strong ratings.
I still believe that the digitals are going to boom in the next few years, once Sydney turns of analogue, and a clever programmer would know this.
But there are still some strange decisions being made.
One of my favourite program’s, The Closer and now Major Crimes was doing well enough on 9 but got buried on GEM shortly after.

  6. I think it’s evident that Live sport should be always telecast in HD. Come on 9 give us fans NRL in HD and also the home Ashes series. The bar is now set, anything less is under performing.

  7. Wouldn’t it be nice if all sport was relegated to the digital channels, leaving the standard programming in place for non sport fans.
The networks should realize that if they put something of interest on the digital channels, people will watch. We need more new content not repeats of To The Manor Born, Vicar of Dibley and Raymond.
