  1. I’m a bit late commenting on this but here goes…
Rudd made Bolt look like a complete fool. I am surprised that Bolt let the interview go to air. Bolt was embarrassing and would not win a Grade 6 debating contest.

  2. Is I didn’t watch Mr Rudd on The Bolt report, the Mr Abbott and Co.’s equivalent to I haven’t read that report or I haven’t seen that particular quote/reply or interview, but I will comment by staying on our tired old out of date message.

As far as Mr Abbott and Co.appearing in a one on one debate with Mr Rudd or any other Government Minister or being open to real questions in any similar forum to the ABC’s QandA, it will probably never happen for several medical reasons alone, the first being that there is simply not enough time for all the “Ticker and/or Intestinal Fortitude Transplants Required “, the second being the “Occupational Heart Attack Hazards ” that may impact on all their Spin Doctor Minders in both the Lead Up and the Damage Control after such an appearance.

“Now we should demand Abbot appear on Q & A and to be interviewed by Leigh Sales.”

Are you suggesting Leigh Sales is the left equivalent of Andrew Bolt? This is the thing people who dislike Bolt don’t seem to comprehend. He is a right wing commentator, paid for his views, as opposed to the ABC who are supposed to be even-handed, but most definitely aren’t in many instances.

  4. Rudd, and many others in Canberra, like to hear the sound of their own voice. They are masters of saying nothing while appearing to say exactly what you want to hear. There is no downside to Rudd facing off against Bolt as both will maintain their own position.

On the other hand, Abbott is not a lawyer nor a used car salesman (both ‘professions’ require considerable oratory skills), he’s an ex journalist who does not have the gift of the gab. The best you can expect out of Tony is a 45 second sound bite. You can be assured Tony’s minders will not let him within 100km of a protracted interview/debate unless it is carefully staged.

Is simply the nature of the beast(s).

  5. @prankster – Good to see “Worst Australian Prime Minister ” (the one who saved us from the GFC, got Australia Triple-A Credit Rating (first time), lowest interest rates, lowest inflation, etc.), front on such a blatantly biased program. At least Malcolm T goes on Q&A, but the wanna be PM, Tony what’s-his-name….”Look, er, um, let me just say, no, no, no”.

  6. I thought PM Rudd really showed up Bolt for the ignorant person Bolt is., especially about climate change and asylum seekers
Abbott is such a wimp for not going on Q and A , but what else would you expect?

  7. Are these the same leftest who defend the Worst Australian Prime Minister of all time. Hang your heads in shame. Your Labor Leader, the Union Puppet.

  8. Let’s not forget Abbott also hasn’t appeared on Insiders for years, or any ABC Radio program. Rudd also challenged Abbott to a debate at the National Press Club, & the recent Sky News People’s Forum in Launceston.

Rudd has shown Abbott to be one of the most gutless opposition leaders in living memory.

  9. unclepete – totally agree. Whether you like or dislike Rudd, you have to give him kudos for fronting up to the far right extremist Bolt.

I didn’t watch it because I knew it would have been an ambush from Bolt but I hope Rudd put him in his place – especially on climate change.

Now we should demand Abbot appear on Q & A and to be interviewed by Leigh Sales.

Sadly I am expecting him to appear on Ten’s new breakfast show where he’ll get support from his friends Ita Buttrose and Joe Hildebrand.

    1. It was “robust” to say the least. Not sure who was more adamant at trying to score points. Rudd has already filmed for Hildebrand’s Shitsville Express, before he was PM. Bit of a coup.

  10. @ Mr. J – exactly… agree or disagree with Kevin, but the fact he is willing to risk a tirade of abuse, lies and misinformation from a narcissist like Bolt, show he has more guts than Tony… hands down.

And in any case, in the last few weeks Q and A has been (as always) if anything biased to the right, at least as far as audience membership goes. And Tony would get a fair hearing there. I do not and did not watch Bolt this morning, but I can only assume that a fair go is something that Kevin did not receive by any stretch of the imagination.
