Mark Ferguson will front Seven News Sydney whilst Chris Bath takes leave, on doctor’s orders according to a Fairfax report.
Bath and husband Jim Wilson are believed to be taking a 10-day holiday before settling back into their 6pm news chairs.
An undisclosed source tells the newspaper she has had the flu for several months, which developed into pneumonia, and sadly  lost her grandmother in mid-May, to whom she was very close.
Four nights sleeping on her gran’s hospital floor, and shuttling back to Sydney to read the news every night from the central coast certainly didn’t help her health.
.
”Presenters have traditionally always taken a midyear break at the end of the year,” a Seven spokeswoman said. ”This time it was paramount Chris takes the time off to fully rest and recover from a lingering case of pneumonia, which had her off air for two weeks last month.
”She and Jim will be off for 10 days … In their absence, Mark Ferguson and Ryan Phelan will read the 6pm; Sydney weekday news bulletin and sport.”
Meanwhile Melissa Doyle has returned to Sunrise and fronted Sunday Night last night.

Booting Fergo for Peter Overton was the worst move nine ever made!
Yeah, I wondered why 9 let him go, I used to like his news when I lived in Sydney. Chris has been tweeting about her flu, so hope she rests up and gets better.
I could never work out why Nine let Mark Ferguson go. He is one of the best newsreaders in the country.
Hope she is getting rest as pneumonia is not something to take lightly.
@deedeedragons I have to agree.
It should be Ferguson all time. I like him. Plus he seems to have stopped aging at some point. LOL.
