“Comedy Ashes” specials on Comedy Channel

2013-07-12_1322 The Comedy Channel has programmed a number of shows featuring Australian and British comedians that it is branding Comedy Ashes on Friday evenings from next week.

It begins with Aussie comedian Brendon Burns and Brit Russell Howard on Friday, July 19 at 9.30pm with Rowan Atkinson, Steve Hughes, Matt Okine, and Alan Carr to follow.

Friday July 19

Brendon Burns: So I Suppose This Is Offensive Now at 9.30pm
Australian Premiere
Winner of the prestigious Edinburgh Comedy Award for this performance, Burns brings his hilariously aggressive, no-holds-barred rant to the stage.

Russell Howard, Right Here Right Now at 11.00pm
Filmed live at London’s famous Hammersmith Apollo, one of Britain’s most exciting and popular stand-up comedians hits the stage to deliver his trademark mix of eloquent gags and deft storytelling.

Friday July 26

Brendon Burns: Sober Not Clean at 9.30pm
Australian Premiere
If you like a little controversy with your comedy, then Brendon Burns is your man. Burns’ hilarious in-your-face stage presence is on full display in this critically acclaimed stand-up special.

Rowan Atkinson Live at 10.30pm
Rowan Atkinson displays his versatile comedy talent in this hilarious television special featuring top sketches from his award-winning stage shows, including performances from the Globe and Shaftesbury Avenue Theatres in London’s West End, on Broadway in the USA and on tour in the UK, Australia and far flung corners of the world.

Friday August 2

Steve Hughes: Live At Toomer at 9.30pm
One of Australia’s edgiest comedians, Steve Hughes, heads to Amsterdam to light up the locals with his confronting, tell it like it is stand-up routine.

Russell Howard Live From Bloomsbury at 10.00pm
This stand up special is a recording of his stand-up show “Adventures” as performed live at the Bloomsbury Theatre in London. Howard’s stand-up is delivered in a relentlessly energetic fashion, running and leaping around the stage, his material infused with a sense of child-like wonder and a unique brand of anti-cynicism.

Friday August 9

Matt O’Kine: Being Black N’ Chicken n’ S#%t at 9.30pm
Matt O’Kine likes chicken, but he’s also chicken of some seafood. In this hilarious stand up special, what was supposed to be a routine fishing trip with his dad, Matt comes face-to-face with ghost fisherman, killer jellyfish and giant squid.

Alan Carr: Tooth Fairy Live at 11.00pm
Alan Carr rides solo for this hilarious stand-up show at Hammersmith Apollo in London.
