Getaway heading to India

Getaway is off to India for three episodes taking in the wonders of the Taj Mahal, Delhi, Kerala, Rajastan and local villages.

2013-07-02_1105Getaway presenters Brett Lee and Jesinta Campbell are off to India later this month for a three-episode sojourn taking in the wonders of  the Taj Mahal, Delhi, Kerala, Rajastan and local villages.

Our guest reporters team up with Scenic Tours for a journey of discovery through this amazing nation of 1.2 billion people. They will explore all the magnificent tourist attractions on offer and check out some of the most luxurious hotels in India.

The trip starts in Delhi and winds through Rajasthan, Varanasi, Jaipur, Udaipur and on to Agra – with a special visit to the greatest monument to love ever built, the Taj Mahal. This majestic tour will also take in India’s largest palace complex, Udaipur in Rajastan, where Jesinta and Brett meet a real-life maharajah, a ruling prince.

Jesinta is awestruck by the beauty of the Taj Mahal, which is also a “bucket list” experience for Brett, who has never been there despite making more than 100 trips to India. Jesinta will also indulge in early morning yoga at the picturesque Lodhi Gardens and locate some of the top fashion designers in Delhi.

Along the way, viewers take a ride on Brett’s Mewsic Bus – his charity on wheels that stops in villages all over India trying to help teach poor kids basic literacy and numeracy through music.

This exotic Getaway adventure winds up in the beautiful southern Indian port of Kerala, where Brett joins the local fishermen and Jesinta cruises the waterways on a luxurious converted rice barge.

Jet off with Brett Lee and Jesinta Campbell as they experience all the pulsating life and historical splendour of picturesque India.

Pack your suitcase and grab your passport – we’re off to India.

Begins Saturday, July 20, at 5.30pm on Nine.

  1. Although, can I take issue with Nine’s pr guff? Can’t these people get anything right?

Rajasthan is a State which includes Jaipur, and Udaipur (and not Varanasi and Agra).

And Kerala is not beautiful southern Indian port, it too is an entire State.

    Grrr.
