Pirate Express bound for Nine

Nine will be getting a new animated kids series following the adventures of a 12 year old boy onboard the Pirate Express.

2013-07-06_0030Nine will be getting a new animated kids series co-produced by Canadian production company Atomic Cartoons and Australia’s Sticky Pictures (Dennis & Gnasher, Broxstonia, Pearlie, Me & My Monsters).

Pirate Express will comprise 26 half hour episodes (52 x 11) for kids aged 7 to 11, following the adventures of Newt, a 12 year old boy from Atlantis and the most dim witted crew on the seven seas, onboard the ship Pirate Express.

“We’re delighted to be heading into production on Pirate Express,” says Donna Andrews, CEO of Sticky Pictures. “This is an original pirate comedy that’s funny, irreverent and incorporates the pirate mythology we all love so much.

Jo Rooney from Nine Network added, “We’re looking forward to getting Pirate Express on the air.

“It will be a great comedic addition to our wonderful kids slate.”

It will air in 2015.
