Sally back in the Bay

Kate Ritchie makes her return to Home and Away next Monday night.

2013-07-08_1156Kate Ritchie makes her return to Home and Away next Monday night.

It has been five years since Sally Fletcher departed Summer Bay (boy that was fast!).

Her return is part of “a special story arc as the show celebrates 25 years, to air over a number of months.”

Will be interesting to see what impact her appearance has on ratings.

7pm Monday July 15 on Seven.

  1. I think Network 7 can launch dramas very well and make them successful!
I think they have shown repeatedly that they can effectively damage a drama by their programming practices.
All Saints, City Homicide, Packed to the Rafters just to name a few. I realise there are other factors as well, but the programming hinders viewers enjoyment when shows are yanked mid season or ridiculous starting times like 8:45/ 8:53 or when All Saints was on following Reality shows like Dancing with the Stars and a different start time every week!?!
Bringing back Sally will boost ratings but you wonder if after recent years of programming will Home and Away suffer the same fate!?!
    When will 7 learn??

  2. Yeah, I read that article in TV Week too, and think the same thing. It said she had been through it before and wanted her friends and family around her, so I think she may have cancer, her husband died of cancer, so she has been through it before.

I was really annoyed at how the Charlie thing turned out. I was thinking she was either coming back as a ghost or she had faked her death and been in witness protection or something. TV Week had an article that said she sneaks into Brax’s room in the hospital when no one is looking, so that implied she was still alive. And all the ads made out they would get back together, which also implied she was still alive. But then it turned out she was a ghost after all.

  3. ” The biggest problem this show has is that it films approx 6-7 months in advance and there is no chance to correct or lose a character that isnt working with its audience. There seems no apparent reason why they need to film more than 6-8 weeks out. My advice would be send all your actiors off for a long break and let the series catch up and examine what is working and what isnt on your show–otherwise it wont be long and there wont be any show or it will be shifted to Seven 2 at 5 30pm which is maybe where it belongs.

  4. I think its lost the plot, most of the characters are unlikeable such as the river boys and Bianca, everyone moves around with different partners.
Years ago it was a nice family show but not anymore.

  5. I have watching H&A from the start and enjoyed Sally in it But if they bring Sally back to die as her secret and have Harvey and Roo to look after Pippa I will never watch Home and away any more for sure

  6. I wonder why H&A has to film so far in advance? It was ages ago we first learned of Sally’s return, as with Charlie. As Charlie’s reapearance only turned out to be in dream sequences, lets hope Sally’s is more worth the wait. I for one have gone off H&A at the moment, due to boring characters and some dubious story lines, but will be back next Monday to see Sally.

  7. I don’t think Home and Away has much life left in it, at least not on the main channel. Even Seven don’t seem to care about it anymore, constantly moving it around the schedule to accommodate event television such as news, sport and reality programs. By Seven standards the ratings aren’t great, its always under 1m and they consistently lose the half hour to Nine. Seven must be at least tempted to bring forward reality shows to 7.00 with the ratings they’re currently getting. Maybe not just yet, but I think in a few years time we will see a change.
