Two key cast members of Parks and Recreation are set to depart during the next season.
Rob Lowe, who joined in season two, and Rashida Jones, who has been with the show from the start, will exit in the middle of the upcoming sixth season.
On screen, both have been an on-again, off-again couple.
Lowe is already starring in Killing Kennedy and currently appears in the HBO telemovie Behind the Candelabra.
Meanwhile Jones and her writing partner have a two-year deal with Warner Bros. Television to write and produce comedy and drama projects for both cable and network TV.

This has literally ruined my day. They are both awesome characters and I will be devastated to see them go! Rashida/Ann in particular will leave a gaping hole when she leaves because she’s such a major character who’s been there since the beginning. Now who will Leslie’s bestie be?
I never understood the point of the Anne Perkins character anyway. As long as Ron Swanson and Tom are still there I’m happy.
Rob Lowe has a habit of leaving tv shows after a few seasons.
