Singer Cyndi Lauper visited The Project last night and her say about Australian television.
The singer, who now has her own Reality show, told the team what she thought of TV while visiting the TEN studios.
“I was here earlier and watching TV and you got 10 channels, but where’s cable?
“I said ‘You gotta have cable. I’m on cable!’ Get cable!
“How much cooking can you watch?” she asked.
“In between the cooking shows, they have diet commercials!
“First they’re telling you how to eat, and plate the food… and then you don’t eat?”
Tactfully prompted by Dave Hughes about whether she loved MasterChef, she fell into line.
“I do,” she replied.
Lauper’s interview followed a Project segment to cross promote Recipe to Riches.

@nevothirty I wouldn’t watch Masternews, but it’s a great idea! Amazing no one’s thought of it before.
@Sophie ditto! gotta luv her, she still makes me laugh as well as being a great singer! And so gracious when talking about Lady Gaga etc, some of the other prima donna’s should take notes on that.
I have a concept for a new show, its a live news program, but they are cooking a 5 course whilst reporting the news. Master News, its like everything else on TV
That’s what I’d like to know too Craig. I hope The Biggest Loser comes on soon.
I do love Cindy, always have, always will. Pity she had to knuckle down a support Masterchef though.
Her interview on The Project just adds to the plethora of reasons why I adore that crazy broad.
More so, how much reality TV do we need?
Cyndi is excellent value – had me in stitches last night.
I hope X Factor get her on the show as a guest mentor & a live performance – she could teach the kids a thing or two (like she did on Australian Idol a few years ago)
Loved the segment and Cyndi.
Is TEN planning Biggest Loser to return after the cooking shows?
She nailed it! Really hate the variety on TV at the moment, have BB on in the background most nights and love Wed nights on ABC but the relentless cooking and talent shows are too much for me. Ch 10 should kick this new show off in late January, it’s going to flop on the back of MC and GABO while XF and AGT are still running.
