Thankfully it’s a case of ‘Diagnosis Safe’ for legendary actor Dick Van Dyke who escaped unharmed from his burning sports car on a freeway in Calabas, California.
The Hollywood Reporter notes Highway Patrol went into action after receiving a report of a burning vehicle on the 101 Freeway. A pair of off-duty nurses assisted the driver, but while Van Dyke was not mentioned by name in the incident report, his wife Arlene Van Dyke tweeted a video and wrote “He’s fine thank God!!”
According to the incident report, the actor may not have been aware his car was on fire before the rescue.
The Diagnosis Murder star was honoured in January with a Screen Actors Guild 49th Annual Life Achievement Award.

@deedeedragons – Could ask VW the same thing.
As Graham Kennedy would say, ‘lucky Dick’.
Looks like a Jaguar. What causes a new car like that to do that?
My heart stopped a beat or two when i saw the picture of Dick, as my computer refreshed, but couldn’t see the headline! Thank goodness he is ok. The world needs his joyous uplifting presence a wee while longer!
