2013-08-22_0019FOX Sports has signed a new four-year broadcast deal with the United States Tennis Association will see it broadcast the next four Flushing Meadows events exclusively in Australia.

This gives FOX Sports exclusive Australian television rights for a Grand Slam tennis event for the first time, after the delisting of the US Open from the sports anti-siphoning scheme, previously shared with a free-to-air broadcaster.

A 30-minute review show Tennis Today will air on each day of the 2013 US Open, starting next Tuesday night with Wally Masur and Adam Peacock.

FOX Sports’ coverage of the 2013 US Open gets underway at 1.00am AEST on Tuesday, August 27, with the premiere edition of Tennis Today to screen on Tuesday evening at 6.30pm AEST on FOX Sports 3HD & FOX Sports 3.

FOX Sports will be the only place to see the 2013 US Open on Australian TV with more than 170 hours of Live coverage beginning on the first day of competition and continuing right through to the Men’s Singles Final.

Australia’s hopes for success in the 2013 tournament rest on the shoulders of inform world number 11 and 2011 US Open champion Samantha Stosur, while our top-ranked men’s hope Bernard Tomic will look to become the first Aussie male to take the crown since Lleyton Hewitt in 2001.

FOX Sports coverage of the US Open tennis championships is available to Foxtel sports subscribers and is also available on compatible iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch devices with the Foxtel Go app, as well as on eligible Samsung Smart TVs, Xbox 360 and PC and Mac computers with Foxtel Play.

“We are pleased to continue our long association with Fox Sports Australia for another four years”, said Gordon Smith, USTA Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer. “They have been a valued partner in an important territory for tennis.”

pretty much says it in the story

  2. Nine hasn’t really given the US Open coverage from about 2009, apart from when Sam Stosur made the final (and won).

I’m not a huge tennis watcher but Fox Sports has had exclusivity of the US Open in Australia for the last few years.

  3. Well, it’s been on Fox Sports for the last couple of years exclusively apart from when Sam made the final. Really what we should be getting is multiple court coverage so we can pick what court what we want on Foxtel Go, catch up with what the rest of the world does but Fox are too lazy for that.

Are they sending a team to New York this year? I hope so because its generally a very good production
