  1. Before Foxtel gets cock a hoop over those figures, it needs to be pointed out that the survey period included the London Olympics. Many people – including myself – signed up and cancelled as soon as the Olympics were over.

  2. I think that’s a bit harsh Shazz.

Foxtel may not have invested a great deal in scripted at the start, but they certainly are starting to put more cash into it now. Wentworth was excellent, as was Tangle, Love My Way, etc… They even put money into Slide and that car stealing show too – which you have to admit was a bit of a risk based on the shows that FTA commissions.

You say you hate sport and don’t count it, but millions did, especially during the Olympics, not to mention what they’ve done for the AFL and NRL.

Now before you jump up and down saying I work for Foxtel, I don’t, but I am in the industry and I actually give credit to anyone spending on Aussie content.

Lucky no-one writing million dollar cheques to production companies cares what Shazz thinks.

  3. They have huge revenue yet invest in hardly any Australian scripted content. When they do they quickly cancel it.

The only Australian content they produce in serious amounts is crappy reality shows. I do not count sport as content, as that is not an actual programme.

  4. Wait till all the protectionist policies are torn down and see how they go then. Foxtel don’t mind undercutting and poaching from FTA TV (or even ruining the NBN to further their own interests), yet they don’t seem equally as keen on true competition in the digital media market…
