It’s a Date: sneak peek

Check out Poh Ling Yeow in her debut acting on ABC1’s upcoming comedy It’s a Date.

Poh features in the first episode of Peter Helliar’s new comedy which changes cast every week, looking at dating and romance.

The first episode “When Should You Abandon a Date?” pairs Poh with comedian Dave Lawson and in a separate scenario, Helliar himself is on a date with Lisa McCune in a Mexican restaurant.

The following week it’s “How Important is Honesty on a First Date?” with Sibylla Budd & Luke McGregor plus John Wood & Denise Scott. I’m looking forward to seeing Ian Smith on a date with Ross Noble later in the series.

Coming up later in the series are Asher Keddie, Kate Ritchie, Stephen Curry, Shane Jacobson, Sophie Lowe, Nadine Garner, Pia Miranda, Lawrence Mooney, Ryan Shelton, Dan Wyllie, Jess Harris, Ronny Chieng, Kate McLennan, Louis Corbett, Eva Lazzaro and Nazeem Hussain. The writing team includes Phil Lloyd, Jess Harris, Ryan Shelton, Justin Hamilton, Tony Moclair, Lawrence Mooney, Steven Gates and Kate Langbroek.

It’s rare that we get an anthology comedy series like this, especially with some non-actors in acting roles.

Premieres 9pm Thursday August 15 ABC1 following Upper Middle Bogan.

  1. This is not Poh’s acting debut, she was in a number of short films. In fact in adelaide she worked for manny years as performer and model, master chef was really just the audition that worked.

  2. Wow, another ABC comedy featuring bodily functions. Who would have thought.

It looks like the ABC is trying to replicate SBS’s bogan night with Housos and Bogan Pride.
