Rishi out as Emma, Lynton and Samira battle for MasterChef title

Rishi Desai was eliminated from MasterChef, setting the stage for a 3 way battle on Sunday.

RishiEmma, Lynton and Samira will battle it out for the title of MasterChef Australia 2013 champion.

Last night NSW public servant Rishi Desai, 35, was eliminated from the contest after his charred leek cream failed to impress the judges.

Despite losing a chance to fight it out for the 2013 title Rishi hopes to open a restaurant serving modern day Indian cuisine.

Judge George Calombaris said he had the “steel and the smarts” to make it happen.

Tonight all the series contestants return for a final MasterClass, then the scene is set on Sunday for Emma, Lynton and Samira to battle it out for the 2013 championship.

Traditionally, TEN has pre-recorded the final episode but the score reveal isn’t filmed until the afternoon of the day of broadcast, to avoid leaks and the need for fake endings.

  1. I also feel like the show has set up for a Lynton win. I said right at the beginning that if he makes Top 5, he will win. Even the theme song makes him seem like the star of the show. He’s the perfect image for the show to put out there. He’s a farmer, he’s white, straight and semi-attractive but not intimidatingly so. I won’t be surprised if he wins at all, even though I believe he is the weakest of the 3. He was the weakest of the Top 7.

  2. It’s been clear from day one that the show has been set-up (or rigged) for Lynton to win. I haven’t been watching the show but every time I do, Lynton is never a standout talent. But the important thing for the network and the franchise are his marketability and good looks.

  3. I wanted Rishi to win but he made a huge mistake with George Columbaris char grilled leak. He was supposed to boil them first , then char grill.

Now I want Lynton or Samira to win 🙂

Glad to hear no one can leak out the winner as the decisions wont be recorded until Sunday afternoon – Smart move Ten and Shine. 🙂

  4. Agree about Rishi. I was really disappointed to see him go and I really thought he was going to to win. He was the strongest cook and how is Emma still there?!

  5. It doesn’t matter what we think, the judges have had a favourite for ages, Emma, and no matter how badly she does as far as they are concerned she was going to be in the final and if they can manage it, she will win, even though she doesn’t deserve to.

  6. I was sorry to see Rishi eliminated. And I didn’t want to see him against Samira because they are both my favourite contestants. But he was eliminated because he made mistakes with his dishes and that’s the way it goes sometimes. But I’m glad Samira won and is in the grand finale. I hope she wins. Go Samira!

  7. After so many weeks with contestants still making such basic mistakes as not knowing how to set an oven, this was by far the worst series of Master Chef ever. None of them could cook with any constistancy and in the main they were pretty dull personalities. Rishi was the only one with any real talent and temperament in the kitchen and should have won by a country mile. His past performances should have been taken into consideration, instead we have a very substandard GF. After all these years Master Chef producers should have learnt to give the public what they want ie good cooks and a credible winner.

  8. Rishi was the most talented of the remaining contestants so I was shocked to see him go. Out of the final three I feel that Emma doesn’t really deserve to be there as she really has no handle on how to cook in a service challenge.

  9. Oh my God, I was so pissed off last night when Rishi got eliminated. I was screaming at the TV like a lunatic. Samira should have gone home, she put coriander in a French dish. Those stupid judges definitely made the wrong call there. I was so disappointed for him when he stuffed up those mussels.

  10. Very sad to see Rishi go. Out of the four he had the nose talent and in my opinion the only one who truly deserved to take out the title. I am really not sure how the other three have managed to make it this far.
