SKY News proposes People’s Forum to leaders

SKY News has formally invited both Rudd & Abbott to a series of People’s Forums but hasn't indicated if any of them will actually go ahead.

2013-08-13_0934SKY News has formally invited both Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and Opposition Leader Tony Abbott to participate in a series of People’s Forums to be held over the next fortnight.

But it hasn’t indicated if any of them will actually go ahead.

Following last night’s debate in Canberra, the forums would provide voters with the opportunity to ask questions directly to both leaders.

The first forum would take place in Brisbane on Wednesday August 21 at the Broncos Leagues Club followed by a second in Sydney on Wednesday August 28 at the Rooty Hill RSL Club.

SKY News Political Editor David Speers would moderate both events which would take place at 6.30pm AEST and feature an audience of 100 undecided voters sourced independently by Galaxy Research.

A third People’s Forum to be held in Melbourne has also been proposed for a later date in the campaign.

The events would be available for Live broadcast by all media.

  1. Why would kevin rudd bother to appear on Mr murdoch sky news channel. It is so right wing biased . The peoples forum would only be stacked with right wing liberals . Total waste of time . The ABC is the only fair. And balanced news service n australia so all the debates should be on ABC news24 or the press gallery.tony abbott has only agreed so as not to upset his boss murdoch.

  2. I think the reason why Abbott has accepted and not Rudd is Abbott is trying to buddy up to News Limited which owns Foxtel and Sky News, after all the positive press they have been giving him in their newspapers. I for one do not like this idea.

  3. Tony Abbott has accepted the invitation to appear and take questions while Rudd has refused. David Speers says the forum will go ahead with Tony Abbott alone if this is the case. Rudd seems like he’s more comfortable talking to his Canberra press gallery mates rather than engaging directly with the people which is strange indeed for a national leader.
