Survivor: Blood vs Water cast

Survivor's next season sees 10 previous contestants return to compete with, and against, family members.

2013-08-22_1514As has been widely reported before, Survivor‘s next season “Blood vs Water” sees 10 previous contestants return to compete with, and against, family members.

Amongst the returning contestants are Rupert Boneham, Colton Cumbie and Tyson Apostol. But there’s no sign of the Hantz family, after Brandon Hantz left the last series early in a bizarre meltdown.

The 27th season also sees the return of Redemption Island as loved ones are forced to choose whether to “save” their partner and switch places with them, thus allowing their loved one to immediately re-enter the game, or leave them in exile to survive on their own.

Fingers crossed Nine fast-tracks this season as they did earlier this year. It begins September 18 in the US.

  1. Wondering if they will ever do a survivor again that has no returning contestants? One with completely new people?

Surely if they keep on doing Survivors with returning contestants, they’ll ultimately run out of people to return without having the same ones over and over…

Having said that, I love Survivor and can’t wait! Possibly airing Sept 19 on GO!?

    1. Probst has gone on the record to say the ones with former contestants are popping better, or words to that effect. I guess with 26 seasons under their belt at least they have those kind of options.

  2. This looks like being a real twist-fest – very excited for it! Love Rupert, though I’ve always had fantasies of him taking over from Jeff Probst as host.

  3. @jayjay95,

I don’t think Russell was particularly great at “Outplay, Outwit, Outlast” in Survivor: Redemption Island. He was voted out first on his tribe and when couldn’t even win a Redemption battle to return himself to the game.

A true Survivor Great has to be able to do well in Survivor once the other contestants know his tactics, not just be capable of playing as an Unknown over two back to back seasons from June-Sept 2009.

  4. Yay for Rupert, finally he might win!

No Hantz’s sadly, I was looking forward to seeing Russell if he was on it (and to the haters, last time I checked the motto of Survivor was “Outwit, outplay, outlast” so Russell was playing the game very well) but Brandon’s spectacular meltdown basically means he’s not coming back, and why the producers will never bring him back because he is obviously erratic mentally!

  5. Ugh. The rumors of Jeff getting his way and bringing back Redemption Island were true – I know why they’re doing it, because they want to play up the drama…but still terrible decision. Also had enough of Rupert of HvV so hopefully he doesn’t last long.

  6. Great. Can’t wait for this Season to start. Just had a look at the promo video on the Survivor website. And soooo happy no Hantz’s, nor Secret Agents that I can put up with Colton (who will get voted out in the first few eps I presume).

  7. Yay for Rupert coming back, boo for Colton coming back, was hoping it was just a nasty rumour. Hated him and didn’t ever want to see him on my TV ever again. Maybe after watching his behaviour he felt ashamed and will improve this time around. It was the only time I haven’t felt any compassion seeing someone get medi vacced out, was glad to see the back of him.

  8. Apparently the guy who is going on with Kat from “1 world” (Hayden) won BB in the US but BBUS has a Survivor like format where the contestants vote each other out instead of it being a public vote, popularity contest format like what we have here.
