2013-09-24_1056NCIS is eyeing yet another spin-off, this time set in New Orleans.

This would be the second spin-off of the series, which itself was a spin-off from JAG. A mooted spin-off of NCIS: LA was also once on the cards, but did not proceed.

The potential series will begin with a two-part storyline in is upcoming season.

Showrunner Gary Glasberg and series star Mark Harmon would executive produce the “character-driven” project, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The NCIS New Orleans office handles cases from Pensacola through Mississippi and Louisiana to Texas. With its rich setting of music, fun and debauchery, New Orleans is a magnet for military personnel on leave.

The news comes as NCIS heads into its 11th season, which will see the exit of long-time regular Cote de Pablo. Glasberg wrote in a letter to fans that de Pablo’s character, Ziva David, will receive a “heart-wrenching” farewell that promises to resolve her storyline and be a “moment in television history.”

TEN has not yet announced the return of NCIS, although NCIS: LA is about to resume.

  1. NCIS wasn’t really spun off from JAG, it shared none of the cast or setting. They just did a backdoor pilot for NCIS in JAG by having Gibbs and DiNozzo appear in a two part story.

Same as The Finder was piloted in Bones.

  2. the spinoff that didn’t go ahead was NCIS RED it looked like it could have been interesting.,, They introduced it last season with a 2 episode crossover with NCIS LA

  3. random observation: in the pictures of the 2 recent articles on the TVtonight homepage; Gary Ablett with his Brownlow and Mark Harman with his phone, both men are in almost the exact same pose.
