The last ever episode of BAFTA Award-winning series Skins airs on Thursday night on SBS 2.
I must admit I haven’t seen much of this show since about Season Three (and this is Season Seven!). I loved the first two with Tony, Sid, Maxxie, Jal, Michelle, Cassie, Effy and Chris.
It was a bold, energetic series from E4 especially with Bryan Elsley and Jamie Brittain embracing young, first-time writers. And then to recast the whole thing with new principals.
Nicholas Hoult and Dev Patel have certainly done well out of it.
MTV tried to remake it for the US market, but it never fired.
Skins: Rise (Part Two)
Having fled Manchester, Cook, Emma and Charlie have been driving for hours in silence, and eventually arrive at the holiday home of Emma’s parents in the Midlands. Unfortunately it isn’t long before Louie catches up with them and they’re forced to go on the run into the snow covered woods. As twist follows twist layers of the new controlled Cook are peeled away. Propelled into a world of savage revenge, Cook must face his own violent past. Cook has nothing left to lose, he doesn’t fear death, and in fact is happy to taunt it.
Thursday, 19 September at 9.35pm on SBS 2.

In light of the fact that the first gen were the most interesting, it was great to see an update on Cassie’s life.
Effie and Cook though? Not so much. Of a pretty unpleasant bunch in seasons 3 & 4, I always thought them the most unpleasant.
Daniel Kaluuya (the peripheral Posh Kenneth in seasons 1 & 2) has done pretty well for himself too.
I’m with you David. Seasons 1 and 2 were fantastic – season 3 felt like exactly the same plots, but with new characters. Season 7? Wow.
I watched it all the way through and loved it, although Gen 3 was the least interesting and didn’t really fire IMHO. Cassie will always be my favorite her episodes in the last Skins chapter were so beautifully shot.
