Lucy ZelicFootball presenter Lucy Zelic is joining SBS’s A-League team alongside David Zdrilic and Craig Foster.

Zelic, who has hosted official A-League podcasts, will co-host the live Friday night match as well as SBS’s live Thursday night entertainment show.

Zelic is also a former Miss Universe Australia finalist, sister to former Socceroo Ned Zelic, appeared on 106.3FM’s Balls n’ All football show and commentated games for Canberra United.

Lucy Zelic said: “To be joining SBS where I get to talk football every day is my absolute dream role. SBS’s football credentials are unrivalled and it is a privilege to be working alongside some of the best and most respected football minds in the country. Having the Hyundai A-League on free-to-air TV is huge and I am counting down the days until the season begins.”

Ken Shipp, Head of Sport at SBS said: “Lucy is a rare find, combining a natural talent for media with a real passion and knowledge of football having grown up with the game. She is a true fan of the Hyundai A-League and can hold her own when it comes to understanding and analysing football. Lucy has a fun, vibrant on-air presence which I know our viewers will love.”

SBS’s Live coverage begins on Friday 11 October when Sydney FC host the Newcastle Jets from 7:00pm AEST on SBS 2.

  1. its highly unlikely that SBS will use its own commentators on that single Live Friday Night A league match, especially if its cheaper to just use the FOX Sports feed. The coverage i think will be similar to their coverage of the World Cup Qualifiers where they just had the SBS Football experts and hosts just analysing it during pre game half time and post game. The suspect the acutual commentray will come from the FOX Sports commentators such as Simon Hill and Andy Harper.

  2. Good to see that she has joined the team. I am looking forward to watching the A-League on sbs.

New entertainment show on Thursdays? Will it be A-League related, or is it something else all together?

Surely Les Murray will be involved in calling the games? He still fronts up the World Game show for sbs on Monday nights.
