2013-09-25_0058She never even planned to audition but last night Melissa Juratowitch won FOX8’s Australia’s Next Top Model.

The 16 year old student from Melbourne (pictured left) was spotted in a crowd of onlookers at shopping centre auditions, but went all the way to the end of the series.

She defeated fellow Melburnian Shanali Martin (16) for the 2013 title, while Nyadak ‘Duckie’ Thot (17) was eliminated earlier.

Juratowitch, who made light of having a “seven finger forehead” wins a cover of the November issue of Harper’s Bazaar, plus a worldwide contract with international agency IMG Models.

The Live finale was hosted by Jennifer Hawkins before a crowd of frenzied fans and invited guests, at The Star in Sydney. Performers included Rudimental, Cirque du Soleil and Ricki-Lee.

Melissa Juratowitch said: “Auditioning for the show was not something I had planned to do this year, it wasn’t even on my radar. The whole experience has taken me by complete surprise and I intend to make the most of this amazing opportunity. I’m still finishing my final year at high school and once that is completed I will pursue my dream as a professional model. I’m so grateful to everyone who has voted for me tonight and I will do my best to make you proud.”

“Melissa is such a stunner. She has such a modern, unique look that I think will translate on the international runways as well as in editorial,” said Hawkins.

“I remember the very first photo shoot from episode one where she blew us all away, but really, she never stopped impressing us! Every week she has produced shots that we simply could not ignore and neither could the rest of Australia. What an amazing model we’ve found.”

Harper’s Bazaar Editor, Kellie Hush said: “The three finalists were all absolutely gorgeous and have a great career ahead of them. Melissa, however, was a stand out for us on the cover shoot day. We had more than one cover option and are thrilled be the first magazine to have Melissa as a cover star.

Foxtel is yet to confirm a 2015 season, but this year has enjoyed bumper ratings of over 400,000 viewers.

  1. Yet another good season, it is a shame Charlotte Dawson will no longer be involved. Would have rathered that Alex Perry was leaving.

Jennifer Hawkins did a very good job hosting the season but was far too giggly and stumbled through most of the live finale which seemed to have been not rehearsed enough.
