11 Comments:

  1. I love how everyone’s focus is on Masterchef but the final of Underbelly scratches in at 381,000 with barely a mention by anyone.

There seems a massive focus on what Ten is doing….a but more focus on the failings of other networks would be a nice (ususal) balance here too!

  2. If the chatter on facebook is any guide then the reason that MC didn’t rate as well as it could is because Emma appears to be the most unpopular winner ever.
I have never seen such comments against a winner before usually they are 50/50 or at least 40/60 but I would say that on Snday night on Facebook the comments were in favour of Lynton about 90% Emma got about 10% favourable comments…
Lets hope the producers look at not just the casting of the show but judging which always seems to be controversial.
It is a shame because there were parts of this year’s season that were great (Heston) while the girls v boys tanked.

  3. Disappointed that Squizzy didn’t rate better. I am surprised actually with how low the ratings were. Jared Daperis was fantastic. I must admit I haven’t seen any of the other Underbelly series, so I have no reference point to whether this series, was better, worse or the same. I did enjoy it though.

  4. All the knives are out for Ten but the truth is anything over 1 million is good ratings these days and a finale maybe 1.5 million would have been excellent, since we have all the multi-channels. No good quoting the old days when there was 5 channels only.

Masterchef will have to be and according to Ten and Shine will be more like the old proven formula next year and only 1 show per year, no spin-offs.

XFactor is an excellent show and deserves good ratings. AGT is rubbish but Nine could show Bert Newton reading the paper and their loyal viewers would watch it. Very sad to me.

We watched M/C and recorded XFactor and Ripper. 🙂

  5. I knew that MC finale would struggle against the X factor and AGT – and the ratings confirmed it.

Just scraping past 1m for a finale is pathetic. I watched the show and it was really a poor effort. You could see from the beginning that Emma was going to win.

That perfect score in round 1 for Lynton reminded me of that Junior MC finale when they gave the boy an 11 out of 10.

I’ve said it before – the judges should blind taste all the dishes – to avoid any appearance of favouritism and to prevent any contestant from pouring on the waterworks to gain sympathy.

I think Ten should be worried about this performance – but I am guessing they are celebrating doing well in the key demographics. Well it’s not the pensioners who are buying up all that Coles food.

  6. Approximately 6 million people were watching TV in capital cities on Sunday night across 6:30-8:30. I didn’t watch anything, so am unsure of exact start times etc.
Talent and Cooking shows haven’t grabbed me this year and a Grand Design repeat is still fresh for me. I missed the launch of the ABC drama, when it started there was loads of drama on Sunday, now there is glut. Feast and famine on different nights.
I realise competition of talent shows competing to beat the other, and similarly with dramas is what motivates them.
I am committing less to TV shows as these games are not interesting me. I love my PVR as I can watch what I want at a time I schedule. Networks are driving viewers away from live TV!

  7. Masterchef way down from the good old days of 3m. Not surprised with the result though. The show this season was horrible. It wasn’t the same as the past seasons.

X Factor was great last night again. Dami stole the show and deserves to win it. Jai is one of the most over-rated singers in a long long time on this show. He’s already starting to crack and its week 2.

  8. With those appalling figures for Underbelly, you’d have to worry about Fat Tony (another UB in disguise) It’s time to freshen up Channel 9, your drama’s looking a bit out of date. Literally and metaphorically speaking!

  9. Those Underbelly figures are very worrying. Hopefully they will pick up on timeshifting.

I really enjoyed this season of Underbelly, more than the last two seasons. Nine will be hoping Power Games can do better in the next two weeks (albeit it screening 45 minutes earlier)

Wow! Masterchef beaten by two other reality shows.

  10. On a MasterChef Final night TEN can only manage 2.2% more than ABC1, and plummet to nothing for the following program. Is there no clearer example of TEN’s problems?
