Thursday nights are no a game-changer

Ratings: Another low-rating Thursday, but Nine wins the night.

2013-09-06_1012It was another low-viewing Thursday last night.

In recent weeks it’s been a case of just one or two entertainment shows over the magic million. Last night it was just one or two over 900,000 and both of those went to Seven.

But Nine won the night thanks largely to the strength of its News and Thursday NRL but it’s unlikely to wrest the week from Seven.

Nine Network share was 30.4% then Seven 27.0%, ABC 19.5%, TEN 17.6% and SBS 5.5%.

Nine News was 1.21m then A Current Affair (951,000), Big Brother was 786,000 on Nine (but only ran for 30 mins in Sydney and Brisbane), The Footy Show was 786,000, Hot Seat was 673,000, Thursday Night NRL was 540,000 in 2 cities.

Seven News (1.19m) was best for Seven then Today Tonight (994,000), Dynamo: Magician Impossible (938,000), Home and Away (901,000), Please Marry My Boy lost half of its lead-in (467,000), Deal Or No Deal (466,000) and Formal Wars (438,000).

ABC News (936,000) won its timeslot. Kitchen Cabinet was 892,000. Upper Middle Bogan also won its timeslot with 881,000. 7:30 was 792,000 and It’s a Date was 722,000 and Would I Lie to You? was 389,000.

TEN could not rise above TEN News (610,000). Save with Jamie was 596,000, The Project was 552,000, Law and Order: SVU was 521,000 / 511,000 and The Simpsons was 335,000.

On SBS ONE it was Vikings (288,000), Madhur Jaffrey’s Curry Nation (236,000), Luke Nguyen’s Greater Mekong (229,000), Heston’s Feasts (226,000) and World News Australia (187,000).

Big Brother on GO was 433,000 across 5 cities.

Nine’s Afternoon News: 249,000
Seven News at 4: 211,000
Nine News Now: 117,000
The Daily Edition: 91,000

  1. Those ratings for big brother seem to be terrible . I thought anything under one million made the show a huge failure. Why is it still on air.ten was right to dump it . Also caught James Tobin hosting with monique wright on daily show . Love those two together they have such great chemistry. This show should use the sunrise set it would look so much better .. Never Liked that English guy on the show just can not understand his accent. But all those advertorials spoil the daily show . They are too long and too frequent. so I switch over to nine news.

  2. My household must be out of step with the majority of viewers as I find Thursdays to be one of the busier nights of the week for TV viewing:
Curry Nation, Vikings, Upper Middle Bogan, It’s a Date, Free Radio, Skins, the excellent Him & Her, Jamie Oliver’s new show, and a new Heston show next week…

  3. There aren’t many shows on Thursday nights because there aren’t many viewers watching.

I normally watch Catalyst, when they are reporting science and not doing silly specials on Chiropracty and dating, but it was off for the Election Cooking Battle!

I watched Arrow and Longmire and recorded Vikings and the final of The Mindy Project.

  4. Loving It’s a Date…can’t believe we are already half way through the season!! Wish they could be hour long eps.

Surprised they didn’t air promos for Home and Away with Sally leaving but oh well they missed an opportunity there..
