220 critics from the US Television Critics Association have been polled on their thoughts on the upcoming US Fall season and which shows they think are the pick of the bunch.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. topped their list. There was also good news for Rebel Wilson.

As the Hollywood Reporter notes:

SHIELD, which was followed by Showtime’s Masters of Sex (2) and NBC’s The Blacklist (3) in the overall category, somehow missed out on the drama category. Top honors there went to The Blacklist — which, oddly, bested Masters of Sex (2) despite falling behind it in the overall category. CBS’ Hostages ranked third.

The top comedy race gave a wide margin of victory to Fox’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine, followed by CBS’ Mom (2) and ABC’s Trophy Wife (3). (The latter two combined received fewer than half of Brooklyn’s votes.)

Among individual performances, the TCA dubbed Sleepy Hollow (Fox) star Tom Mison as the most likely of achieving breakout status. Rebel Wilson (ABC’s Super Fun Night) and Lizzy Caplan (Masters of Sex) followed.

  1. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is the buzz show of the new season and the critics are raving about it and The Blacklist. Problem with critic choices is they don’t always translate in viewers. Hannibal is a prime example last season. Critics loved it but viewers didn’t tune in. I’m a huge fan of Once and i am actually looking forward to the spinoff. It could be the surprise hit like Once was when it launched 2 years ago. Either way though i will say this, there are a lot more promising shows this upcoming season compared to last years abysmal lot of shows.

Kinda surprised Brooklyn Nine-Nine polled way out in front with the comedies. I thought The Crazy Ones was going to be the one they thought would be good. Guess not.
