Airdate: Revolution

J.J Abrams' post-apocalyptic drama has its Free to Air premiere in early November.

2013-10-24_2344Nine has now confirmed a premiere date for Revolution, the post-apocalyptic drama from J.J Abrams (Person of Interest, Fringe, Lost), along with Eric Kripke (Supernatural) and Bryan Burk (Fringe, Lost).

It begins on Tuesday November 5th.

This series has already aired on Pay TV but is a FTA premiere. Revolution is currently in its second season in the US and on Foxtel.

All power has mysteriously blacked out. Phones, computers, everything. There are no cars. Nothing works anymore. The global blackout brought down governments, made masses flee the cities, and left survivors to resort to a primitive way of living – gathered in villages and hunting their food.

Fifteen years later nothing has changed. Local militias now run rampant and heroic freedom fighters do all they can to work out why the power failed and how it can be restored.

Seen through the eyes of Charlie (Tracy Spiridakos), a strong-willed young woman, and her brother Danny (Graham Rogers), Revolution is a story about families – the one you’re born into and the one you choose.

In the double episode premiere, Danny is kidnapped by militia leaders and Charlie must seek out her estranged uncle Miles (Billy Burke), a former US marine who now lives a reclusive life. Banding together with a rogue group of fellow survivors, they set out to rescue Danny, overthrow the militia and put an end to the blackout.

8.30pm Tuesday November 5 on Nine.

  1. @dignams – I thought it was awful as well!!! I’ve been really looking forward to it as I love post apocalyptic stories but this was so boring and the characters are so unlikeable. Such a shame because the premise is interesting. I was hoping for something as well done as Hericho or The Walking Dead. This felt like a cheap ‘Lost’ combined with a western with people who look entirely too well fed, dressed and cared for given they have been without power for 15 years.

  2. Thanks for the news David. As an individual I’m in a bit of a dilemma because I’m interested in both Revolution and Person of Interest. I guess I better hope for a possible repeat of Revolution so I could watch both episodes properly and hope for no more clashes. If not I guess I’ll wait if they repeat Revolution somewhere. As I’m fine with repeats and I’ll even wait for them.

As for the Person of Interest discussion I hope they wait to play new episodes until after they’ve caught up on the repeats. Because I may be interested in them. Although if I have to wait for repeats there. I will. I’ll just say I’ve mainly liked the treatment its had on GEM. I hope it continues to be treated that way. I’m not a complete fan of some of the start times however. But it could be so much worse. Thank you.

  3. Person Of Interest #2.21 Zero Mode airs on Gem on Tuesday night.

So we should know whether they are finally going to show the S2 final episode God Mode then.
And if they continue with the double episode whether they are going to continue into S3.

Person Of Interest did actually manage to get up to 640k viewers, when it had a run in a good timeslot with a good lead-in. But was given a bad start and moved around alot so was only getting 400k a lot of the time.

I don’t think Revolution will do better, but it will do younger. And it isn’t a proven low rater yet.

  4. The Last Post – “But still no sign of Person of Interest returning?”

That is probably because GEM has another couple of weeks with their reruns of the second and previous season which is fine with me as the reruns on GEM was the first time I have ever seen Person of Interest.

  5. I noticed they had started up the promos for Revolution for the 3rd time during Longmire.

By Kripke from Abrams’s production studio. Abrams gets an EP credit because it is his production company. He didn’t take any creation or writing credits and it’s not like he was going to be worrying too much about Revolution while rebooting the Star Trek film franchise.

  6. Seen the promos for this show, and am still undecided. If they can show this show on FTA after it’s been on Foxel, why can’t they do that with other shows like Damages & Pretty Little Liars which both started out on 9 and GO? Damages did eventually show the other seasons on 9 during the day, still waiting for them to show the final season.
