Axed: The Game Plan

2013-10-06_0058NRL sports show The Game Plan has been axed by ONE.

Host Andrew Moore announced the end on 2GB on Friday and again by Moore and Steve “Blocker” Roach yesterday during 2GB Continuous Call. Joel Caine was the show’s third host.

The show began on ONE in March 2011, briefly airing on TEN in 2012.

The AFL version of The Game Plan, which began at the same time, ended in mid 2012.

Gee, TEN missed out on getting the NRL rights so now they’ve taken their bat and ball (or Steeden) and gone home. Will they fill the timeslot with yet more repeats of The Simpsons?

  2. Not surprising. IMO the show got stale the last year or so. Repeated guests and not focusing on all the games was annoying. I liked the talent on the show though. Blocker is great.

  3. I really liked this show but TEN’s constant moving of it’s timeslot and channel resulted in loosing me as a viewer simply because it’s latest timeslot conflicted with other shows. It was better than The Footy Show in that it actually focused on NRL – not games and jokes. If ESPN actually cared about Australia they could pick this up as it fits their other programming (Sports Centre and ESPN FC), but they invest about 2 cents into the Australian economy with no local sports content and limited panel shows.

  4. It is better than the “Footy Show”!

Maybe I am in the minority, but I still think there is room for a league show dedicated to the more thoughtful follower.

Too many blokey and juvenile footy shows for my liking.
