The US version is being adapted by creator Chris Chibnall, despite the original having aired on BBC America. Filming will begin in January.

It’s not yet clear where the US version will be located but Broadchurch is its current working title.

This isn’t the first time Tennant will have assumed the role of an American, following the failed pilot Rex Is Not Your Lawyer for NBC.

ITV has already commissioned a second series of the UK version.

  1. Remember Mel Gibson was dubbed with an American accent for the original Mad Max. I wish the US would take more original shows rather than remake them.
You really struggle to find anything other than US content except on specialty cable channels & very rarely on Network TV.

  2. @ poss …it was on in America…and number of my friends watched it and loved it…but did struggle with the accents…just finished a few weeks ago.

  3. Seriously am i the only one that thinks that this is just stupid!……….. Yes i know american stations don’t buy foreign content.

Here is a thought why not give it a go, the american people may just get to see that American shows are not the be all and end all!

    Shakes head and walks away!
