Daylight Saving takes TV ratings hostage

Ratings: Daylight Saving is biting in TV ratings land with just the 6pm news eclipsing the magic million.

Only the 6pm news services eclipsed the magic million, with Home and Away the highest-rated entertainment show at 909,000.

  1. Find it funny The Bachelor is sponsored by Gillette (in SCTEN promos). The talent could use a few freebies.
@stevie g – Because of the minority screaming and whining for new shows to be fast tracked. It does have its down side.

  2. Tried to get into Hostages but it was hard…only toward the end of the 2nd hour did it start to get better for me. Only suffered through it to watch CSI even though it was a repeat.
Seven seems to be intent on overexposing Cosentino causing his ratings to fall.

  3. There is heaps to watch at the moment, trying to keep track of all the new and returning fast tracked shows, lucky I now finally have a PVR, but I do question whether there needs to be such an onslaught of new shows in daylight savings time.

  4. Lots of tv of all sorts to watch if people wanted to, they just didn’t.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is an ok action show but nothing special.

50k for Prisoners of War is very disappointing, though I must confess I recorded it because I was watching #3.3 of DCI Banks on cable.

  5. It sure does – which is why Aussie drama needs to be screened in the non-daylight saving period for maximum impact – and why so much new Aussie drama was recently bumped into next year. Also makes sense when there is so much new US drama screening.

  6. I’m surprised you commented that there was “good content on offer”, we decided to tape Gruen and then watch DVDs because we really couldn’t find anything to rouse our interest. We even discussed digging out the board games!! It has nothing to do with daylight saving, but rather the poor product and the way the networks treat us, their customers….and yes that includes SBS and even the ABC (although they are marginally better)

  7. The Bachelor’s move to Wednesday night was definitely the right one. That is probably the closest Ten has been to the others in the 7.30 slot for quite some time. Would have been even better if they had started it there in the first place.

  8. Didn’t watch SHIELD last night, channel 2 offerings are much better. But I did use Seven catch-up for SHIELD, that was the first and last time I will be using that service. Advertising in the program is so uncool, also the volume of the ads goes up when compared to the program. Nine and Ten don’t have ads. Also forget able using ad-filtering programs, the seven-app doesn’t work when they are enabled.
