  1. FOX will not ever show the Grand Final even simulcat from Nine because then Nine and other FTA network will not stump up the massive cash for the rights the next time they come up for grabs, the commercial networks need the exclusivity to give them a reason to keep increasing the offer.

  2. It is extremely possible now. Nine could put it on GEM. I have the 2010 grand final in HD on my iQ2 recorded from GEM when it first started. Even have the ads saying GEM will be the home of live HD sport.

The decision not to show the NRL in HD is nothing other than arrogance of nine and Gyngell.

  3. Do not think that Foxtel would not do the same as the free to air networks if it meant protecting their bottom line. Foxtel do have a different business model compared to the 7, 9, 10 and the regional networks, but their primary motive for broadcasting as many shows/channel in HD as possible is to attract people who want to watch programs exclusive to Foxtel or watch shows that are also on free-to air in Standard Definition, but not in HD.

  4. I know the Federal Government, the AFL, NRL, Cricket Australia and other sporting bodies want all their games in HD and have informed the current broadcasters to do this as soon as possible.

  5. I think you will find that by the end of 2014 or early 2015 I believe the free to air networks will start broadcasting just about all sport (both ive and delayed coverage) in proper 1080p High Definition once the analogue signals are turned off everywhere, the digital frequency spectrums have been re-organised and it becomes a bit cheaper and more cost effective to buy more quality equipment so they can broadcast in HD without affecting their budgets.

  6. I so wish that foxtel and nine could both show the grand final live so that those without foxtel can see it and so that people with foxtel can watch it there and not have to put up with nines pathetic coverage
