Renewed: Covert Affairs

It's been a long time off air in Australia, but at least Covert Affairs has been renewed for a fifth season.

2013-10-05_0039US espionage drama Covert Affairs has been renewed for a fifth season.

The drama starring Piper Perabo and Christopher Gorham will return with 16 more episodes.

“No other series on television travels the globe to tell a story like Covert Affairs, and we are pleased to bring it back for another season,” said Chris McCumber, president of USA Network. “With its intricate storytelling, diverse characters and authentic locations, the series continues to be a cornerstone in our lineup of USA’s original signature dramas.”

Season four, which is yet to air in Australia, will involve major changes for the character of Annie (Perabo), being touted as a shift to “a totally different show.”

There’s still no sign of a return for the show, last seen in Australia in December.

  1. Seven started Covert Affairs in Jul last year because they had kept back half of S2 and had a hole in their schedule. They looked like holding back half of S3, but ended up showing it later in the year when the news shows they bought (killing Time, Strikeback, Grimm) all failed.

They may use CA on Wednesday night as a replacement for Men at Work, if that gets bumped after the Hostages double premiere. If not it goes onto their pile of stuff to show somewhere.

Fairly Legal they used up after Castle late on Sundays, Royal Pains they are burning off on Friday nights before the rights run out, Suits S2 they haven’t found a place for yet.

  2. I wouldn’t be suprised to see Covert Affairs to pop-up in December again as Summer programming as they have only had 10 episodes in the US running July 16th to Sep 17th and returning there Oct 17th.

Last year it was the same with Covert Affairs starting July 10th stopping after 10 episodes on Sept 18th coming back Oct 16th to Nov 20th for the final 6 episodes.

When they’re a 16 episode series and they break it in the US like that (similar with Suits 10 eps and then back in Jan for the final 6 eps), I can understand the channels here hanging off to play the lot.

  3. Please Seven bring this back, even on 7Two! TV1 replayed season 1, hopefully the Foxtel channel which replaces it will be able to continue airing it.
