It will screen Spectacle: Elvis Costello with…, an intimate conversation with Lou Reed at 6:30pm.

To celebrate the life of one of the world’s most renowned rock legends, and co-founder of notorious rock band Velvet Underground, STUDIO presents Elvis Costello in intimate conversation with Lou Reed, including exclusive live performances.

American rock icon Lou Reed has passed away in New York aged 71. Reed, who co-founded rock band Velvet Underground was a massively influential songwriter and guitarist who helped shape nearly fifty years of punk music.

Famous for fusing art and music – Reed alongside his band Velvet Underground revolutionised the industry in the 60s and 70s through its collaboration with artist Andy Warhol. The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996.

Beyond his work with the Underground, Reed launched his solo career in 1970. Known for monotone of surprising emotional range and power, his best-known hits included Perfect Day and Walk On The Walk Side.

At 6.30pm tonight, to celebrate the man behind the music, STUDIO brings you Elvis Costello in intimate conversation with Lou Reed, including live performances with this legendary artist.

  1. I was initially pleased to see that STUDIO had moved quickly to give us a program about Lou Reed, but disappointed to see it was just a repeat of the Elvis Costello program.
    Ah, but hearing the pair of them duet on Perfect Day again was just so damn good!
