Might we be getting a series of The Block that renovates offices and shops?
That’s the speculation after Fairfax reports Watercress Productions has paid around $8.25 million asking price for a glass 1980s office building property at 121-127 High Street, Prahran. The site opposite Swinburne University’s Prahran campus is just metres from Chapel Street.
The three-storey 3540-square-metre building sits on a 1289-square-metre block with open-air car parking and was offered with vacant possession. It includes valuable ground-floor office space.
But upper levels could still be refitted as flats or townhouse-style multi-storey homes and there is still the possibility of extending upwards.
TV Tonight understands the next season in Albert Park is proceeding, despite media speculation that delays may see contestants relocate to the Prahran address.
If we get 3 Melbourne renovations in a row that could also risk being too Southern-centric for the show.

What I liked about House Rules were the different locations and although I also like The Block it’s always in Melbourne. Give Brissie,Perth and Adelaide a go!
Hope its on the tram stop, adds character
I’m sure I read a while back, maybe even here, that the producers had a nice cosy relationship with either city of Port Phillip or City of Stonnington, which is why they kept returning to similar areas in Melbourne
Yes Port Phillip loves The Block.
JUst more of the same – stale old telly.
The Block will start trailing House Rules soon.
Kind of like Masterchef was left behind by MKR.
They certainly need to move to other cities. Inner city Brisbane where I live would be perfect for The Block esp for commercial buildings that are being converted to residential.
