Thursday FC is live from Catherine Hill Bay as A-League players meet those affected by bushfires.

2013-10-23_1514On Thursday FC this week, Lucy Zelic goes visits one of the communities touched by the bushfires, where she is joined by A-League players from the Central Coast Mariners, Newcastle Jets and Sydney FC, who have all given up their personal time to visit the Catherine Hill Bay community.

Lucy and the players, including Zach Anderson (Central Coast Mariners), Justin Pasfield (Central Coast Mariners), Josh Mitchell (Newcastle Jets) and Terry Antonis (Sydney FC), will be live from the Catherine Hill Bay Hotel as they meet with members of the Rural Fire Service and the local area.

Also in Catherine Hill Bay will be SBS’s Mr Football, Les Murray, who takes to the kitchen to entertain and cook his specialty dish Csirke Paprika Cigany (Gypsy Chicken Paprika) for the locals.

Les Murray said: “This is a time for all of us in the football community to come together and help out where we can. These neighbourhoods are going through a difficult time and I hope that our visit can bring some relief to those affected.”

From the SBS studio, Matt Okine and David Zdrilic will look ahead at the week’s upcoming Hyundai A-League matches, including Melbourne Victory’s last game at the helm of incoming Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou, and Saturday night’s Sydney derby between Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers with players Pedj Bojic (Sydney FC) and Brendon Santalab (Western Sydney Wanderers).

Performing live in studio is the iconic Australian singer who also features on Daft Punk’s latest album, Daryl Braithwaite.

Thursday FC is LIVE 8:30pm AEDT Thursday 24 October on SBS 2.

  1. I enjoy this show, after it i switch to watch Masters of Sex on SBS ONE. Great to see them helping out whenever they can. Some people might see it as oppotuniasm and may have a negative perseption of it but i tend to give them the benefit of the doubt especially media like SBS.

  2. Good to see them going to the communities affected by the bushfires this week.

    this is a nice little gem of a show. I just wish its ratings were better.
