Wonderland: Nov 6

Next week Gia Carides makes an appearance in an episode featuring a same-sex wedding.

Wonderland Gia CaridesNext week Gia Carides makes an appearance on Wonderland.

She will play Dani’s (Jess Tovey) mum Helena in an episode entitled “Equal Rights” featuring a same-sex wedding (maybe they’ve rushed off to the ACT?).

In the episode, Dani faces one her biggest emotional challenges when her mother (Carides) invites her to her gay wedding. Helena is getting married to her long-term partner – the woman she left Dani’s father for. It might have happened seventeen years ago but Dani still refuses to attend the commitment ceremony. Will they find a resolution?

After Wonderland launched there was some comment about a lack of diversity amongst its characters so it will be good to balance things out, albeit briefly.

The show will also have a (mid) season final, wrapping with Episode 13 on November 13. Looks like the remaining 9 will be held until next year.

9pm Wednesday on TEN.

  1. I must admit.. this show started off a bit sloppy with some silly initial story lines but it has improved in recent weeks.

It would definitely benefit though from having more of the older characters on the show more regularly. Perhaps ‘Dani’s’ mum and dad could appear a bit more often. Roy Billings and Gia Carides are fantastic actors.

And agree with others.. if this was on Seven, or even Nine, it’d be rating double. It’s the network it’s on, not the show that’s the bigger problem. Hope TEN stick with it.

  2. I enjoy this show….it’s so “easy” to watch…. I do hope it continues into a second series as the characters are so likeable. It’s low ratings aren’t because of the show ….it’s because it’s playing on Channel 10….Channel 10 is the problem….it seems as if it’s “uncool” to watch Channel 10……..

  3. I disagree LIzzie May, Wonderland is just as sophisticated as Winners and Losers, Rafters and many other ‘successful dramas’…..on other Networks. It’s just so, so fashionable to criticise Ten. Yawn.

  4. I agree ph. This show is not sophisticated enough for adult viewing and would better suit an earlier time slot. What on earth was Channel 10 thinking commissioning it in the first place?

  5. May have been wise to play double length movie episodes on a Friday night to finish this year. I have stuck with it but last night was sadly the end for me.
