Bachelor Tim chooses Anna

“I have fallen, madly and deeply in love with you," Tim tells Anna.

bachtimChiropractor Tim Robards chose criminal lawyer Anna Heinrich, 26, in the season finale of The Bachelor.

But model Rochelle Emmanuel-Smith, 27, missed out on her romantic ending as a result.

An emotional Tim told Anna, “It feels so good to finally be able to acknowledge what my heart is feeling, and you have my heart.

“I have fallen, madly and deeply in love with you. I love you. It feels so good to finally be able to say it. I want to make you feel special every day. I can’t wait to start the next part of our journey together.”

He even presented her with a diamond ring.

“I hope you know that I will be as committed to you as I possibly can be, because I know you make me a better me. I really do love you,” she said.

But runner-up Rochelle was crushed when Tim gave her the bad news.

“It’s really hard to believe what has just happened. I’m in shock. I can’t imagine that he could be that close with me but it not be me,” she said.

“I’m not disappointed that I opened my heart, it’s just going to take some time for it to sink in. I’ve had such an amazing experience and it has changed my life. It’s just a weird ending that’s bitter and sad.”

Following the final rose ceremony, Tim said: “It feels so good to finally tell Anna that I love her. It’s like I have the biggest weight lifted and I can take a deep breath. This is the first day of the next chapter of our lives together and I can not wait to get it started.”

“I never thought I would be in this position. It has definitely made me believe in fairy tales again. It was completely magical,”
she said.

Despite a wobbly start, the show has gained a loyal and growing following, especially amongst social media, and will return in 2014.

Tonight TEN screens an After the Final Rose special at 7:30pm.

  1. @Jennome. They are willing to subject themselves to such treatement because most if not all of them are their to see if they can improve their careers. Its not so much about love as it is about money and attempting to see if down the line when the show ends they could get a media deal or a modeling deal or give their careers a boost of somekind. So thats how this show is just like any other reality show, most people use it to gain something other then the “stated” goal. If these women really wanted to find someone and for that matter also Tim, then they and him would have done it another way, maybe use that expensive dating service that was featured on the Daily Edition.

  2. Any bets on an eventual wedding?? Nah.

What a load of tripe. How can any self respecting woman subject themselves to this nonsense for all to see – and squirm over.

Not that I saw any of it, apart from promos.

  3. @ david, no not mandatory, but optional. However to possibly win, they might feel under some sort of pressure, but according to ‘fireit’ seems like the bach did the right thing and played the true gent rather well.

Its just that when this show gets towards the end, I was curious to see how the more intimate aspect is played out and clearly to have a show the production compant would want to see a few sparks…

  4. Good on 10 for finally finding something that viewers like. I guess the follow up now will be the Bachelorette, which begs the question will it be Rochelle, Ali or maybe someone completely new…

  5. I only watched the final couple of episodes. My goodness what ‘fingers down the throat’ stuff. The Bachelor was so wooden and thinking from the script in his mind how any woman couldn’t see through him I don’t know.

  6. So let me get this right….the girls sign up to a night away with the bachelor if they make the final 3? Bit of a moral issue on behalf of the production company here don’t you think?

  7. A question about this. How ‘close’ does the bachelor get to the girls. Are there ground rules as to how far they can go? It all seems so old fashioned when they talk about love etc….but surely lust also kicks in somewhere

  8. As taken by this show that I was, I didn’t half feel bad that I was watching people’s hearts break on television…

David, I also heard that they did the standard ‘film two endings’ for the Bachelor… Is that the case? Surely in something like this they wouldn’t have done that?
