Bachelor wins Wednesday ratings

Ratings: TEN's Bachelor finale tops the night with 1.19m for The Final Decision.

TEN_BACHELOR_19-1327TEN’s Bachelor finale topped the night’s ratings battle with 1.19m for The Final Decision and 1.02m for the bulk of the Finale.

Despite some early weeks where the show could not survive in its timeslot, the network’s decision to stick with the show paid off by coming home with a wet sail. Social media for the show was also particularly strong and TEN has greenlit a second season for 2014.

The finale helped give TEN the kind of share it used to be getting with regularity, although the night belonged to Seven.

Seven network shares was 27.8% then Nine 25.6%, TEN 22.0%, ABC 18.6% and SBS 5.9%.

Seven News (1.13m) was the only Seven show over the magic million. Next were Today Tonight (975,000), Home and Away (972,000), Cosentino (850,000), Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD (681,000), Million Dollar Minute (534,000). Surveillance Oz was 367,000 and Motorway Patrol was 284,000.

Nine News (1.09m) was Nine’s only show over the million. Next were A Current Affair (919,000), RBT (747,000), Hot Seat (591,000), CSI (514,000 / 299,000) which even outranked Hostages (475,000). The Big Bang Theory was 474,000 in 4 cities.

Aside from The Bachelor TEN’s other fare was fairly unremarkable with TEN Eyewitness News at 533,000, The Project at 528,000, Sleepy Hollow was 276,000 and The Simpsons was 266,000.

On ABC1 ABC News (851,000) was best then Jamie Private School Girl (644,00), 7:30 (624,000), Qi (621,000), Shock Horror Aunty (506,000) and Would I Lie to You? (490,000).

On SBS ONE 24 Hours in Emergency was 291,000 then Richard Hammond’s Miracles of Nature (265,000), World News Australia (176,000) and Borgen (155,000).

Big Bang was big on multichannels at 346,000.

  1. I don’t know how wake up and studio 10 will gain an audience now. It seems like people aren’t interested in switching over. Shame for all involved. I don’t know if the producers are doing anything wrong. It just doesn’t appear there’s an audience for a third show

  2. Omg those sleepy hollow figures are pathetic! Move it to 11 already.
Is great to see 10 have something over 1m but they should have used it as a launch for their summer.

  3. And the bottom line is …..

    * In real life they haven’t got together as the whole plot was ‘scripted’………
    * He’s gone back to his partner, she has gone back to her partner ……
    * In 12 months time or less, we are going to be subjected to more of this trash ……

Hopefully it was tank the and thats the last we here of another really bad quality piece of production from ten(yet) again …..

  4. @john jackson – I think you’re spot on, The Bachelor and BB would have a similar audience. Hopefully they won’t schedule The Bachelor against BB next year so they can get better ratings earlier on. I think it would be great to have BB’s Ben 2013 as The Gay Bachelor but obviously it’s the wrong network!

  5. Yeah they uploaded a Jonah promo to iview accidentally. Big stuff up. Remember when there were reports of Jonah being in the new show? Not the case, separate series or special. Iview has several times made big mistakes, like posting the last ep of a series instead of the third…. that kind of thing. They’ve really let the cat out of the bag. Lots of people on Facebook and twitter have said they’ve seen it.

  6. The Bachelor finale would have been the perfect opportunity for Ten to launch something new, or at least give Wonderland some extra exposure. Sleepy Hollow is a waste and should have been moved to Eleven weeks ago.

  7. ACA in Sydney used to get 30% more viewers than TT when it was shown at 6.30. Now that it is at 7pm, TT is within 10% of it, or like last night, beat ACA.

Time to admit that the one hour news and ACA at 7 is not a good idea and time to revert back please.

Sleepy Hollow numbers suit it being shown on Eleven once American Horror Story finishes.

  8. Hi David,

Noticed you didn’t put Ja’mie’s ratings in this week. I watched it on iView late last night and beforehand saw an ad that said “Jonah is coming soon” to ABC1. Not sure if you’ve heard about this. See the ad for yourself by launching an ep of Ja’mie on iView… A new series for Jonah in 2014 perhaps?

  9. I think with Big Brother being over really allowed more viewers for the bachelor.

I was always watching big brother in previous weeks, and was interested in seeing what the bachelor was about but I couldn’t leave big brother to do that.

Now with no big brother and nothing much else of interest it allowed me to see the bachelor (and is probably the same for many others too).
