2013-11-04_2359Tonight on Dateline journalist David O’Shea meets self-made millionaire  and Caribbean murder suspect, John McAfee, founder of McAfee Antivirus Software.

Did I murder my neighbour in Belize? Was I manufacturing illegal drugs in Central America? Was I having sex with underage girls and was I using bath salts? I can answer a resounding no to all three of those questions.”
– John McAfee, Founder, McAfee Antivirus Software

John McAfee made millions from his antivirus software program, now he a person of interest in a murder investigation.

In the early nineties, McAfee sold his share of the company, which bears the same name, for a hundred million dollars. Almost twenty years later, in 2008, he moved to tropical Belize to pursue a life of hedonism. Five years on, the body of his neighbour, Gregory Faull was discovered and he instantly became a suspect.

“People characterised our relationship as not getting along. McAfee tells Dateline journalist, David O’Shea. “We didn’t have a relationship in five years; I spoke less than 50 words to this man…”

The entrepreneur has lived a fascinating life. Linked to various teenage girls and suspected of producing illegal drugs, McAfee is now a full-time celebrity, after fleeing Belize following the murder. The self-made millionaire also creates spoof YouTube videos and has sold the rights of his story to a Canadian production company.

Mr McAfee now lives in Portland, Oregon, with his girlfriend and former prostitute, Janice Dyson. Although they appear happy together, there is tension between the pair over Dyson’s yet-to-be-released tell-all book that will air some sensitive, dirty laundry.
