Paramount is developing a television series based on the hit 1990 movie which starred Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg.

Deadline reports Oscar winner Akiva Goldsman and veteran showrunner Jeff Pinkner will co-write a pilot script.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with Akiva and Jeff, two deeply creative and accomplished talents, on the television adaptation of this classic supernatural drama,” said Paramount TV president Amy Powell.

Paramount recently relaunching their television division and joined Sony TV on the Beverly Hills Cop pilot. It has previously turned its television titles such as The Brady Bunch, into feature films.

  1. Brilliant concept this. Perhaps if the murderer only had one arm it might rate….. wait, that may have been done b4.

Surely ‘creators’ haven’t run out of new ideas. If so, buh bye TV.

  2. carolemorrissey – Ghost Whisperer was not a murder mystery. It was instead a psychic getting ghosts to move on from this world.

You are right however about Medium being about a murder different week.

With Ghost there would have to be a good reason why the title ghost is still sticking around among the living once his murder has been solved and his murderer(s) brought to justice.

  3. @Maev … Exactly!!!

Why can’t they come up with original ideas anymore?

    Leave this movie alone.
Every character (& actor) can never be replaced!
    They are all exceptional!

    Leave it alone!!!!!

  4. The thing with the Ghost movie is that it was a self-contained movie with everything resolved within it.

A Ghost TV series means that the storylines would have to be stretched for at least a season before the perpetrator(s) finally pays for what he, she or they have done.

In fact I can clearly foresee a Ghost TV series being similar in story format to Revenge.
